Rumor: Square Enix Destroying Remaining Final Fantasy XIV Inventory

A NeoGaf poster is claiming that Square Enix has issued field destroy credits for all remaining Final Fantasy XIV inventory.

According to the post, Square is looking to eliminate the remaining stock of Final Fantasy XIV. Rumor has it, the company plans to re-release the game with a new client — essentially, a new version of the game. Supposedly, players who already own the game are getting the upgrade for free, but Square Enix wants to eliminate the old verison of the game from shelves before it releases the new one.

We’ve reached out to Square Enix for confirmation of the rumor. Stay tuned for further updates.

On one hand they are trying to get people to enjoy their games by recreating and rebuilding an entire MMO from the group up, an impressively monumental task.

On the other hand they just announced Final Fantasy XIII-3 and said outright that there will be tons of customization dress options for Lighting {ie lots of DLC}.
