Runescape Adds Microtransactions

There’s something uncanny about the “me too” vigor with which various developers have all embraced microtransactions over the course of the past couple years. You could compare it to a community of players in a popular online game, rushing to adopt a new, over-powered tactic before it gets patched out.

Via Gamasutra, we learn that Runescape has recently joined the flock. According to a post on the official forums, “impatient” players will be able to shell out real cash for extra spins at Runescape’s “Squeal of Fortune” mini-game. Successful spins result in bonuses and items, which will be more valuable now that developers Jagex have slapped down bot-makers with a lawsuit.

Feeling lucky?
