S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Dev GSC Is Closing … Or It Isn’t … Or Maybe It Is

Rumors are flying that GSC Gameworld, the developer of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and the in-production S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, is being shut down.

Just what’s happening to GSC isn’t exactly clear. RPS first reported the story, citing a Twitter feed, saying, “No we have not closed GSC or cancelled #stalker2.” But, that update has disappeared from the Twitterverse — leaving the closing of the studio ambiguous.

It’s believed that GSC has between 40 or 50 employees, but as to what’s going to happen to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, it seems nobody knows for sure right now. The Ukranian news post even speculates that, given the series’ Chernobyl setting, it could have been government intervention causing the rumored closure.

We’ll let you know when we find out more.

Thanks, Game Industry.

Doesn’t matter, Stalker was a ty game unless it was HEAVILY modded.
