SCE CEO Says PS4 Stock Will Be In Good Shape Into 2014
The launch of new high profile tech hardware, be it iPads or Galaxy phones or game consoles, always come with the fear that demand will outstrip supply, something Sony experienced in 2000 it was unable to fulfill nearly half of pre-orders for the PlayStation 2. Having sold a million PS4s in North America on day one last Friday, the prospect of disappearing stock seemed as if it could be legitimate, even if Phil Hornshaw was able to waltz into a GameStop in Hollywood and grab one for himself without an order Thursday night.
Sony’s Andrew House chimed in on the matter, reassuring folks that they expect to be able to meet demand. “You try to strike a balance, particularly for us with such a strong brand in all the European countries and across the Middle East,” House told Game Informer. “We are ensuring that we have the broadest reach to ensure that people are satisfied, especially when they’ve been loyal to brand for so long,
“On the other hand, we’re not engendering frustration by having a shortage of supply. I think through the holiday season that we’ll be in good supply.”
So if you havne’t grabbed a PS4 yet but would like to, does that give you some hope? Also, if you don’t have one but would like to pretend you do, keep an eye on the GameFront Twitch channel for some streams.
