Science! Kerbal Space Program Adds Career Mode
I do love launching those googly eyed little Kerbals into space. Correction: I do love attempting to launch those googly eyed little Kerbals into space.
The Kerbal Space Program is more aptly named the Kerbal Explosive Death Program when I’m at the controls. Maybe I’ll have more luck with the addition of some structure. That’s just what we’re getting in the latest update, the biggest to date for the two-year-old sim, which adds an enhanced Career Mode.
Hiring astronauts, doing research and development, building ships under a budget, and taking on contracts to earn money and improve an agency’s reputation are all part of a Kerbal Space Program career. The devs say it will also help new players get into the game and, hopefully, kill fewer defenseless Kerbals. Here’s what the devs at Squad have to say about update 0.22:
“Career Mode is going to change the way people play Kerbal Space Program and update 0.22 is a major advancement in making that possible,” lead developer Felipe Falanghe said in a statement. “Science and R&D should provide a fun challenge for existing players while helping new players get into the game, by providing a way to gradually discover all of its content and possibilities. We’re still not finished with Career Mode but this is definitely going to give people a very real understanding of what we’re trying to accomplish. It’s going to be a rewarding experience to see how players take on these new challenges.”
You can update Kerbal Space Program with Career Mode right now. See you in spaaaaace!
