Screen Gems Picks Up Film Rights for Devil May Cry

Devil May Cry became more marketable as a film as soon as the first images from the totally emo reboot of the franchise were released; teen girls will eat that s–t up! It’s like they reimagined the series in such a way that Robert Pattinson would make a perfect Dante. It’s weird.

I’m not the only one to notice the series’ newfound marketability to non-nerds. Genre production house Screen Gems also noticed this, and they’ve purchased the rights to make the film version of the game. Yes, I’m just assuming they’re basing this whole deal on the new reboot — there is no real evidence that this is the case. But, hey, I’m usually right.

The movie will be penned by Kyle Ward, who has not yet had a script turned into a movie but who has a few projects, including the Kane & Lynch film, in pre-production.

I’m hoping this doesn’t turn into Twilight May Cry…… but it looks pretty grim as it is.
