Screenbrags: Mass Effect 2 In Cinematic Awesomeness
For Screenbrags, Gamefront searches the Internet for the coolest, funniest or just plain most impressive screenshots PC gamers are
posting bragging about. Screenbrags posts every Monday. Have a Screenbrag you’d like us to feature? Send it to firstname.lastname@example.org
No one would claim that the Mass Effect series is Shakespeare, but if Mass Effect 3 lives up to the standard set by 1 and 2, the series will have ended up being better than most summer blockbusters. (No, really.) And it was 2010′s Mass Effect 2 that sealed the deal. Mass Effect 2 was distinguished not only by the way it ramped up everything about the first Mass Effect (some would say to the detriment of the series’ RPG roots), but in the way it functioned not only as a great game, but a great viewing experience. Much like the Uncharted series, I can actually watch someone else play and enjoy the unfolding story. Way to go guys. Seriously.
We’ll be at Comic Con this week and will finally, at long last, be getting our hands on a playable demo of Mass Effect 3. With that in mind, this week’s Screenbrags is all about Mass Effect 2. Over at the Notebook Review forums, players have long been posting screenshots from various games, and we located some amazing screen-captures from Mass Effect 2 that demonstrate just how amazingly cinematic the game gets. Enjoy.
The first 3 were taken by forum member Necromas. The sniper view of an Asari powering up is particularly cool looking.
This shot was taken by member ilikeicehockey; I like it because it really gets across how cool the Illusive Man’s little evil overlord office looks.
These last two come courtesy of member jenesuispasbavard, and while the explosion looks simply incredible, it’s the emo/mumblcore looking Mordin that wins. Poor Mordin! Someday you’ll atone for your work on the Krogan genophage, I promise!
You can see the rest, and shots from a jillion other games over at the forum.
