Secret World Release Date Pushed Back to June 19th

We’ve been following The Secret World ever since its big reveal way back at GFC 2011. Since then, there’s been lots of news, some of it good (Cthulu!), some of it less so.

Initially slated for an April release, the game is now targeting a June 19th launch. In a self-congratulatory press release on the game’s official site, developers FunCom promised to spend those extra months “polishing and tweaking.”

The Norwegian studio also cited the profusion of beta sign-ups as evidence that the game will be a success. It’s not clear whether this is a useful metric, though the figure cited — 750,000 — certainly proves that people are curious about the game. Until more hands-on gameplay reports are published, however, much of The Secret World will remain, well, secret.
