See The First In-Game Screenshot of Torment: Tides of Numenera
Today might not be the best day for any game developers to put out any bonafide news announcements, but the creators of Torment: Tides of Numenera have done just that by releasing the first gameplay screen.
It’s not an April Fool’s joke, and it depicts the game as a work-in-progress from an area called The Bloom. InXile developed the area using 2D pre-rendered backgrounds techniques not dissimilar from what they did with Planescape: Torment many years ago. Like the city of Sigil, the Bloom is a sentient area which has the ability to reach across multiple realities using its living tendrils.
The maze-like environment hides many secrets and dangers and has the power to transport adventurers away to far off places in an instant. Interdimensional traders use the Bloom as a means to get to other places and use the Bloom as a trading hub.
