Sessler's Soapbox Asks, "Why So Many Games This November?"
Each week, Adam Sessler of G4 TV steps onto his soapbox, and delivers a rant targeting at something in the gaming industry. This week, he’s addressing the issue of game publishers piling so many games into the month of November this year.
He’s right, there are a TON of games slated for next month, including Rock Band, Mass Effect, and Assassin’s Creed, just to name a few. Sessler also makes an excellent point in this short video: Publishers should consider holding a finished game, and making sure its release date is strategically sound.
Sure, publishers want to recoup their money as soon as possible, but do you really think a shooter that launches for the XBox 360 at the same time as Halo 3 has a prayer? I don’t. Additionally, when there are a glut of good games on the market, they all, regardless of genre, are competing for limited consumer dollars. Care to guess who loses in a case like that? That’s right, the industry does.
