I finally had the chance to spend a day playing Shadowrun, and I am pleasantly surprised at how fun the game is. I have always loved games requiring good team work. If you go into Shadowrun thinking you are going to just do your own thing and dominate, think again. I also love how you are rewarded for non-offensive things such as reviving teammates or stealing the artifact, which is similar to stealing a flag in other online multiplayer games.
Industry journalists have really hit this game hard for it’s faults, but I haven’t seen too much in the way of praising it’s greatness in other areas. Of course, stat tracking is something I am a little upset about the game missing, but it’s still not that crucial. I have heard many gripes from the PC community, but have yet to sample the game from their end of things. Although lacking in some areas, the game is simply a lot of fun and very addicting. The magic and weapon attacks are well balanced and you simply have to work as a team to get anything done. Some people may see that as a negative, but there is nothing better than a well coordinated attack by a team that works together and results in completely owning the enemy.
If you are looking for a fun cross-platform FPS for the Xbox 360, this is a game you definitely need to look into. The learning curve is very quick in this game. You can almost skip the tutorials and figure out what’s going on later, but the tutorials are 60 quick and easy gamer points for XBL. If you are looking for an intricate and complicated FPS, this probably isn’t for you. This game is simply fun.
