Sharp Electronics has decided to enter the Blu-Ray arena this fall. The specs and information are located in the quote below. I think this should make things even more interesting on the video game battle end of things. Competition does wonders for pricing, and with a Sharp blu-ray player on the market, we might see the PS3 drop even lower in price this fall. I do not expect anymore PS3 price cuts between now and then.
From Blu-Ray.com: Sharp Electronics has announced that they will release their first Blu-ray player, the BD-HP20S, this fall. No price has been set, but we do know some hardware specs. The player will output 1080p at 24fps (and 60fps) and supports Dolby TrueHD. Additionally, the player will come equipped with HDMI v1.3 as well as 5.1 analog outs.
An interesting feature is a Quick Start option which will have the disc playing in a matter of seconds, very similar to the start-up times consumers are accustomed to with today’s DVD players. The player will be totally in-house, so don’t expect another clone. This is a totally new player from a long time Blu-ray supporter.
