Shovel Knight Delayed Again for “Finishing Touches”
Shovel Knight’s release has been postponed again.
The delay was revealed in a Kickstarter update from the game’s developer Yacht Club. According to the team’s statement, gamers can expect it to finally launch “a few weeks” after the March 31st release date announced earlier this year.
“This isn’t a major delay, or a long one; it’s simply a stretch of time to get everything polished and aligned,” said the update. “While major development is quickly drawing to a close, there are still some external factors, like submission preparation, which need a little bit more breathing room before the game goes live.”
While the team stressed that Shovel Knight is pretty much “done” at this point, it stated it doesn’t “want to announce another release date until is 100% locked in with both Nintendo and Steam.” It also provided a list of the elements still being finished up including dialogue, game balancing, “platform specific standards” and “finishing touches” on the design for the final levels. This will, of course, not be the first time Shovel Knight has been delayed but it at least now looks like there’s a light firmly at the end of tunnel.
