
One of the best known names in the industry, Sid Meier, has been chosen to receive the Game Developers Choice Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2008 Game Developers Conference (GDC).
Sid Meier is well known for his excellent work in the computer strategy games. The world renowned “father of computer gaming” is genius behind the Civilization series as well as Pirates!, Railroad Tycoon and many other successful titles over the years.
“Sid Meier has served as one of our industry’s greatest role models for more than 25 years, creating fun and intelligent games for a diverse public long before it was popular,” said Jamil Moledina, executive director of the Game Developers Conference. “Now that the rest of the industry is actively targeting the broader audience, it’s fitting to honor him with our highest award and thank him for his continuing example of inspiration for the video game community.”
It’s good to see hard work and innovation recognized, especially when the award comes from ones peers. Sid Meier is getting what he deserves.
