Sign the Petition to Remake Final Fantasy VII

A couple months back, we reported that Square-Enix had confirmed that there were definitely no plans for a remake to Final Fantasy VII. This seemed to upset quite a few people (myself included) since that seems like the one game above all that deserves a modern upgrade. So someone out there decided to post an online petition to send off to the company:

“This is a petition that I am starting, not with the intent of forcing this to happen, but rather, to show Squaresoft that this is something that their fans want to happen. The original Final Fantasy 7 was an amazing game. However, I think that it could be an even more amazing game. In all areas of creativity, Squaresoft’s employ has improved ten fold since Final Fantasy 7. They get better and better with every new game. Being that Final Fantasy 7 is widely considered the best game they ever made, a remake seems almost inevitable. Even so, I still would like to give this idea a little push in the right direction. “

That’s just an excerpt, but if you would like to read the whole thing and/or sign it yourself, you can head over here to check it out. At last check, it was approaching 14,000 signatures, which isn’t too shabby at all.

pls… i would like to remake it in PS2 pls… i have been waiting this..

On August 10, 2007 at 11:49 am

It would be remade for the Playstation 3–if anything. Indeed, it was an amazing game, but the only aspects the remake would feature would probably be:

1. Improved graphics (Graphics overhaul. No more super-deformed/low detailed characters)

2. V/O (Voice Over). Probably will feature the cast from the FFVII AC movie for the voice over.

3. Improved cinematics. Indeed, the cinematics already rocked, but, what if all cinematics looked comparable to FFVII Advent Children? That’d rock.

That’s all I could think of for now, but even if they just made it look more dazzly, I’d be happy to buy it. True fans wouldn’t mind forking up a little extra $$$ if it means owning a piece of FFVII.

It probably wouldn’t harm if they added in some additional content. A few more Weapons, maybe? That’d certainly make it interesting. Heh, how about a different strength one guarding each of the hidden Materia? That’d be cool.

A final fantasy 7 remake would suck.

On August 10, 2007 at 6:49 pm

I’d love this because I never got to play the original. I saw the movie, and played through DoC(bleh) and I feel like I’m missing out. It’d be nice if they released it on the 360 too. >_>

 I would rather see a sequel. the original was great all that would come of a remake would be poser fanboys.

You do realize that this petition is something like five years old…

As for me, no remake, thanks. A port of the original would be okay (so long as nothing new is added), but a full remake is completely unnecessary.

On August 21, 2007 at 4:06 pm

ff7 remake would be so cool! but only if it also gets on the xbox 360 couse i only have an xbox 360 and not a playstation3

On August 22, 2007 at 3:32 am

i want the game remade with better graphics but i want it to be the exact same game absolutely nothin different i would love to go through it again as long as the graphics were better

On August 25, 2007 at 12:14 am

I dont see why there is such a fuss about why such a great game shouldnt be re-made. I think re-making the game would be an amazing idea. If one person wouldnt buy it thats fine, they should keep their opinions to themself. Better aesthetics and voice overs would make this classic game (in my opinion) more interesting and i would love to play it if it was ever re-made. If people want it then why should it not be made? If people complain about how rubbish a re-make would be they can go and play FFVII on the PSX. Some people would go buy the game play it and complain how much it ruined the original, they should just shut it.

End of. Love Dona X

final fantasy is da best game already imagine it in betta graphics

On October 18, 2007 at 6:53 pm

if they do anything at all it should be re-release it again, maybe just release more copys of original cause its impossible to find

On October 23, 2007 at 10:26 am

What’s funny is i really never cared for Final Fantasy games…Except VII and XI.

With that said, if they changed NOTHING except graphics, v/o’s and replaced the music with actual instrumental versions, I would be thrilled. VII is by far and away the greatest RPG ever. Nothing has yet to even come close to it. To see it brought in to the 21st century would make me smile! Too many people are turned off by the graphics to bother playing it, which is just a terrible shame.

I can only hope SE listens to its fans for once in their lives.

On October 23, 2007 at 12:54 pm

@ David, re-releasing the original would be a better idea than remaking it.

because every one has their own definition of what Final Fantasy VII was, and even if they remake it, so that every thing is the same except for the graphics, people would still be pissed off because they remembered Final Fantasy 7 their way, and not the way it was.

At least with a re-release the people who’d play it and mess up like that would have no room for argument because it IS the game.

On November 5, 2007 at 10:07 am

Changing anything about Final Fantasy 7 would be like changing the Mona Lisa. I just want  Final Fantasy 1-9 on a Blu-Ray.

On April 4, 2008 at 2:50 pm

True fans would want this game remade. they would want everyone to see how great this game is. this is the best game ever out of all the final fantasys. thank about your favirote part in the game and imagine it on the ps3. it would be insane some of the boss fights and using the materia would be insane to. it would really help out them to. i dont care how much the game would be id buy it!!!

On April 29, 2008 at 3:41 pm

This is definitely a doozy…

No doubt, a PS3 update of the graphics and music would be beautiful. Also the towns and environments could be bigger,(more detailed and explorable). A voice cast would be nice too. The problems are:

1. Square will no doubt decide to add other and probably change the best battle system they’ve created thus far.

2. The key players are not in the right places. Sakaguchi(director/ creator of the ff series) got canned. Uematsu (composer) Quit because he believes Square has become the evil empire. And other important people have shifted positions of left Square.

In my opinion, Sakaguchi and Uematsu were the heart and soul of the series and without them a remake could not be faithful to the original. Besides, everyone will just want another remake when the PS6 is coming out in 20 years or so. I still own the original and replay it every few years. The Classics never die.

:!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:
They should because they will make millions maybe billions of dollars!!!
they put all that time in making the movies and other stuff I bet they just want to see how badly we want it or need it.
And yes they should make it on the Xbox 360 and psp maybe ps2.

On July 15, 2008 at 1:06 am

Final Fantasy 7 is awesome. and should be remade. because with better graphics and blue ray you can never lose it again. Plus A remake should be done because after playing Crisis Core you understand the story better. And why did Square Enix purposely at the end Of Crisis Core showing Cloud jump off the train and saying to be continue…. on final fantasy 7? wat the heck? they should do a remake. They got us excited again. SO dont dissapoint us.

On July 16, 2008 at 12:21 am

:!: :!: :!: so come on, let the game come out for one more time, for old times sake and our entertainment also to spend our money on and it will be worth every pinny.

bring th final fantasy 7 to th 360

On July 17, 2008 at 10:42 pm

Hey, I can only hope that they do remake Final Fantasy VII. Improve the graphics, music, add voice overs, tweak the battle system to be a little more fluid, and maybe even fill in some holes in the story(nothing story changing though). After the Final Fantasy XIII announcement for Xbox360 I’ll need a reason to keep my Playstation 3 hooked up now.

PS. What the hell are the 1/35th soldiers for?!?

On August 5, 2008 at 6:35 pm

the 1/35 soldier is- shinra armored “attack” soldiers: 12 in the set..
that’s what the ff7 strategy guide book for the ps1

by the way where i am at the time is off have you all seen that

On September 7, 2008 at 11:27 am

k i’ve been playing final fantasy since snes, about 7 years old maybe iuno. even though alot of people have jumped on the bandwagon (FF series), it would still be nice to re-make the game. i dont have any grudge on people who havent played alot of turn-based strategy games, im glad alot more people are turning towards it. overall i would appreciate a re-make, and im sure everyone else would too. i would hate to see this series come to an end so lets keep supporting them and pushing the producers to make future games for us.

peace & love.

On September 30, 2008 at 7:42 pm

On June 20, 2009 at 8:53 pm

ff7 remake would be fantastical. as long as they dont fudge up the story, they can do wtf they want with it, and if anyone prefers classic, buy the original off ps network and play it.

On November 3, 2011 at 2:34 pm

ff7 was epic a true isperation theres no dought that rpg games of today could learn a couple things from in my opinion the best story in ff history to be able 2 remake this 2 pay homage to such a truly remarkable game should be considered an honor not to mention prequels, sequels the reserrection of aerith there is so many different ways 4 them 2 make money on just die hard ff7 fans i hope this becomes a reality
