Silent Hill: Downpour Studio Now “Under Review” By Kuju

The future of Silent Hill: Downpour developer Vatra Games became seriously uncertain this week, as parent company Kuju has confirmed that the studio has been placed “under review” in the wake of a rumor that Vatra is to be shuttered. However, Vatra’s fate hasn’t been sealed, yet anyway.

Kuju issued a statement on the matter, saying “The new management team at Kuju have been conducting a strategic review of all aspects of the business, as part of this process the on-going business activities of the Vatra studio are currently under review, however, at this stage no decisions have yet been made.”

If Vatra is shuttered, it won’t be undeserved, even if we don’t want to see these people lose their jobs. Silent Hill: Downpour received very mixed reviews, and worse, basically flopped, selling around 170,000 copies worldwide. Ouch. We’ll soon see if Vatra lives to make another game, but we won’t hold our breath.
