Silent Hill Revelation 3D Goes Into Production, Gets Unknown Leads

This new Silent Hill movie we’ve heard about started shooting today, and we now know who the stars are. The names are a doozy: Adelaide Clemens and Kit Harrington. Clemens is pictured above in what is the film’s first publicity still.

Never heard of them? You’re not alone. Heat Vision describes the pair as “up-and-comers,” which is generous of them; they really shouldn’t be called that until they’ve done something to indicate they’re on the rise. If they’re good in this movie and people see it, then they will be up-and-comers.

Anyway, if this thing weren’t in 3D, I’d guess it were going straight to disc based on those names, but you just don’t shoot 3D for home video. Instead, this looks like Lionsgate is trying really hard to keep costs down, which is smart on an FX-heavy picture like Silent Hill Revelations 3D undoubtedly will be.

If you’ve already forgotten about what’d going on with this picture, read the deets here.

This screams low budget (SyFy fodder anyone?).

If they were serious about making another SH movie, they’d hire Christophe Gans again. IIRC, Silent Hill barely broke even at the theater and scored profits via DVD sales.

I’ve never heard of the director/writer they have lined up for this one either. It’s already lost “my interest is piqued” points by putting “3D” in the title.

If they are going low budget, they should do it Anime style or at least full on CG. For what it was (a low budget, CG-style animation) I liked Resident Evil: Degeneration. It was a hell of alot better than any of the Resident Evil movie sequels.

At least Uwe Boll isn’t in on this.

This movie is being filmed in the downtown area of my City, by the looks of what they’ve done. It looks REALLY good so far. Good or bad, I’m seeing it, just for the sole fact that I can say “That part was filmed downtown”. Does anyone know what the budget is for the movie? And also Steve, Gans is in prison. Vehicular Manslaughter charges. Wiki it.

So…uh…I know this reply comes three months after the fact, and you’ve probably been corrected/found out the real deal by now, Owen–but it’s Roger Avary that was behind bars for vehicular manslaughter, not Gans.
