SimCity Update Improves Server Response Times by 40x

Lucy Bradshaw of EA Maxis has published a new post on the official SimCity blog to update players on the state of the game, which has been improving over the past day.

The update comes in the wake of the release of patch 1.3, and sees the addition of new, optimized servers which according Bradshaw have server response times improved by up 40x. Additionally, the new servers are capable of supporting double the number of simultaneous players, with reduced downtimes.

“Maxis continues to make huge progress in addressing the lag and server-capacity issues we experienced at launch. We’ve improved our server response time by 40x, we’ve doubled the number of players in the game at the same time and reduced server down times,” wrote Bradshaw.

“The situation is good, but not good enough. And since my boss is one of the negatively affected (!) – we’re still driving hard to get everyone online, playing together, and no hitches.”

The existing servers in the game will be taken offline today for a short period of time for new upgrades to take effect. Players who log into one of the new servers should see the benefits immediately.
