Skate 3 Requires Activation Code for Share Pack

skate-3-boxOne of the hot topics of yesterday’s news was EA Sports’ announcement that all future title would include a code that would allow online play, and that purchasers of used games would have to pay $10 to be able to play online.

Now, word on the street is that Skate 3, which released in North America today, contains the same “feature.” Skate 3 includes the ability to create ans share your own movies and skate parks with other users, but that sharing has a price tag.

A code to activate sharing comes along with every retail version of the game, but if you buy it used, be prepared to pay to make it work. No word yet on what the cost of the code will be, but it’s an indicator where EA’s going with this marketing plan: every single game they release.

I just bought skate 3 august 3rd 2011. I have loved the skate series. I dont understand what they are doing here with the pay for online service. My game is brand new, says in fine print on the back, in closed serial number for online play. I get home there is no serial number in the box. Read a little more and it says that the code expires May 11, 2011. Why? Thats all I ask. Brand new and still have to pay $10 more dollars cause you put a time period on it! Absolutely horrible!
