Can’t find it, then it wasn’t meant to be. Just play the game as it was meant to be played

Might also want to check that you have in fact used the correct root location.
Typically the problem you’re describing can be fixed by following the described process at the top of the post.

webgrunt

There are two problems with the instructions posted here. First, you must include the extension when you type in the command.

For example, if your file is:
everyperk.txt
then you must type:
bat everyperk.txt
If you simply type:
bat everyperk
Then you will get the error “Batch file cannot be found/opened.”

The second problem is that there’s a missing parameter in the text you gave us to copy and paste into the document. I’m not sure how to fix that one. When you try to run the script, you get the following error:

“Syntax error. Reference not allowed in this context. Missing parameter string.”

@Blade

You got the wrong folder blade… yours is D:\Games\The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim\Skyrim… just put it in the “The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim” folder should be enough… file extension is not required

if you don’t change the folder, try to type “bat Skyrim/everyperk”

chupstix

On November 27, 2011 at 3:01 pm

To solve the error:

“Syntax error. Reference not allowed in this context. Missing parameter string.”

Add double quotes to the filename like this:

bat “myfile.txt”

Yea by all means, lets completly destroy the entire concept of what an RPG is about by maxing out all your perks before you get started. Wonderful idea! Geez, Some people simply shouldn’t play RPG’s.

On December 2, 2011 at 5:16 am

Are you really this lonely to complain about how someone else plays their game? You are in the CHEAT section, go away and play how you want and don’t worry about how others play their game, it’s none of your business. Besides that, what are you doing in the cheat section or even reading a cheat(If you click on it on another page) if you are so against it?

Roleby

On December 2, 2011 at 9:39 am

How do you miss a heading like “SKYRIM ADD EVERY PC PERK”? Couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Kind of like a train wreck. Stay away from RPG’s as you obviously don’t get it. The entire concept is built around being so weakly pathetic that it takes two thumbs to flush the toilet and you rise to such heights that you save the world. Do your self a favor and hang around spawn points on your favorite first person shooter.

Jim

On December 2, 2011 at 7:22 pm

I don’t play FPS games, generally they are boring and repetitive. I understand what you are saying and I haven’t used this or plan to.

I just thought it was odd you are telling people how to play their own game. Does that mean if I don’t like they way you play Skyrim I can tell you not to make a tank class because they are boring(they aren’t), or a thief because that promotes an immoral way of life(they don’t, it’s a game)?

How about you not to play it at all because it promotes the worship of a god other than the true Christian/Muslim/Jew, etc god? I’m agnostic and don’t think these things, however I’m sure there are many that do, I have met a couple myself.

Anyway, I’m just trying to understand why you are trying to control other people(on the internet no less), stick with your own actions since they are the only ones that you can control 100% of the time. Well, barring mental disorders, and other such situations I suppose(not saying you have any).

Oh well, have a good day.

Control

On December 3, 2011 at 5:35 am

Control? Nobody can control anyone like that over a blog comment. Nobody is trying to “control” anyone. The point is that anyone who cheats at an epic RPG like Skyrim is seriously lame and missing the point. Sure, they can spend 50 bucks or whatever and waste a bunch of hours playing a video game, but something like this is meant to tell a story, one that you unravel as you grow in the game. If you aren’t living a story in an RPG then you’ve got it all wrong, and you can’t live a story if you’re meta-gaming, worrying about stats, cheats, grinding, etc. That’s just “playing a game”, not inventing a fable for your character in a rich universe.

Roleby

On December 3, 2011 at 11:57 pm

Control, you beat me to the punch. I had no idea the power that I was wielding by simply having an opinion on how an RPG should be played. (which is shared by millions I might add) If my opinion on the subject allows anyone to be “controlled” then they are probably to dim witted to be able to grasp the simplest of video games much less and RPG with the depth and scope that Skyrim offers. But hey, if playing an epic RPG who’s ENTIRE GAMEPLAY is based on the leveling of every single facet is more fun for you by eliminating every single facet, then by all means go for it. But for me personally, I would feel that I had just poured a couple hundred hours in to something of which I pretty much accomplished nothing.

Sharfe

On December 4, 2011 at 6:23 pm

You know the funny thing is that the person who originally asked why you were bothering to post your comment about how people who would use this process shouldn’t bother playing this game because they are lame/missing the point was right on the money. I do not use cheats, but I find the information and these comments highly amusing. I “get” that the fact that you try to shame or humiliate people for choosing to experience the game in a way they enjoy is not only a waste of all of our time, yours included, but that it is more than borderline hypocritical of you.

I will illustrate for you and your ilk, since I am certain you and your kind will respond with less than intelligent retorts precisely because you miss the point. Pay attention.

Your commenting as you have is useless/dumb in the exact same way my saying that the way you eat soup is wrong and thus you should never eat soup. You see, your way of eating soup versus the way I eat soup has no bearing on whether one or the other is correct, and any supposition based on this premise where one person would say never eat soup again, especially where it is done to shame someone, is flawed based on PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

Your way of playing is neither right nor wrong, and their desire to play THEIR way is just as valid as yours.

Now, flame on Johnny Storm! Prove my point for me.

Penis has entered the conversation. Your argument is invalid.

This comments section made me lol. Thank you for that.

Roleby

On December 5, 2011 at 12:11 pm

Well , first of all in regard to your pathetic attempt at creativity with a bad soup analogy. Let me explain in such a way that even you will understand. Comparing playing an RPG with all difficulty removed (massive cheating) as opposed to playing the game as it was designed to be played and then suggesting that it’s no different than eating the soup from a different side of your mouth is absolutely laughable. Using your analogy (certainly wouldn’t be mine) the comparison would be much closer to pouring the soup over your head and licking it off the end of your nose. While yes, your absolutely within your rights to eat it that way, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the “right or best way”. Additionally, your comment that playing either way is neither right or wrong is for lack of a better term pure bull $hit. In case you weren’t aware, they call them “cheats” for a reason.

I used to cheat, then i took an arrow in the knee.

Grow up

On December 5, 2011 at 6:01 pm

I have played the elder scrolls from the begining. Every game I have played once without cheats and then with ALL cheats. I am one of the MANY who do this. I was able to have characters who flew, we’re invisible, jumped over buildings in a single bound. I will continue to play this way forever because I enjoy being able to see what amazing thIngs they have allowed you to do in these games. For those who need to dictate what they feel needs to be done when playing a game….. GROW UP!!

My game freezes whenever I type that into the console.
What should I do?

Keith

On December 6, 2011 at 11:52 am

I DO think it’s lame to start the game out with every perk and so on, but if that’s your idea of a fun time playing Skyrim, then go for it. More power to you. Not bothered.

However, for everyone else, I will share my plans of using this cheat:

Once I hit max level (81 I’ve heard) I will install this cheat so that when I go back in to the game, all perks are available. Every 5 hours of gameplay or so, I’ll think “ok, I would have probably leveled up by now or at least be damn close to it.” Use a perk. So on and so on.

To me, that doesn’t really seem like cheating. You work on your individual skills (blacksmith, archery etc), so you should be rewarded for that, Shouldn’t you? Why stop getting perks at level 81 when you’ve EARNED your skill trees, you know? I’m not saying go crazy with it. I’m just planning on using a perk for every 5 hours or so of gameplay, just as if I was leveling for real.

Does that make sense? Thoughts?

gondola remove the bat [name of file] bit from the actual txt document. its a repeating loop.

On December 6, 2011 at 2:24 pm

@Roleby

You, sir, miss the point. Whether I eat soup like a wild animal, bathe in it and slurp it from a baby skull, or use a spoon while listening to old soul train sound tracks is not the point. The point is you are a jackbooted thug of a moron who feels the need to dictate how others use something they paid for/spent time pirating.

You are not the arbiter of my use of my hard earned, well spent $49.99 plus tax and mustard! If i decide to play the game vanilla, use it to shave a walrus, or sodomize a small colony of frogs is none of your business. So when someone generously allows you to comment in a place where things that are objectionable to you are displayed, feel free, but know that you are an object of scorn and amusement for those of us who understand that you are only motivated by a need to shore up your petty self worth.

Shore up those weaknesses by trying to shame those who are different. I think there is a support group for you. Xenophobics Webnonymous. Quick, wikipedia is your friend!

To all you hacking, cheating, exploiting masses, I hate you when you are killing me, and yet I stand up for your right to do so… but I still hate you.

And as always..

Flame on Johnny Storm, flame on…

Sharfe

On December 6, 2011 at 2:27 pm

By the way…

That was a less than intelligent retort, Roleby. Thank you for proving my point in that you would miss mine, and reply in your original vein.

Do I need to keep saying flame on Johnny Storm?

Oh well.

Flame on Johnny Storm, flame on.

Jake

On December 6, 2011 at 2:46 pm

Can someone tell me how to ing fix it, it still wont work, still getting syntax error ..

Sharfe

On December 6, 2011 at 4:43 pm

@Jake

Okay. I did some cursory research on this. Meaning I called a friend who looked at the page and gave this conclusion.

Copy everything that begins Player.addperk ectetc.
Paste into a notepad document and save as whatever.txt.
Copy that file to the same directory where your tesv file is. I don’t know what that is, and as I am not at home i cannot find it for you, but he said its in your skyrim root which should be called Elder Scrolls etc etc. His was in Program Files (X86).
Open Skyrim and load a save.
Hit tilde (~) and then type bat whatever then hit enter.
He said you should see some gobbly about stuff added and are then done.

He then berated me for not doing a simple Google search and finding this out for myself. I pass that on to you as a mild tsk tsk.

Enjoy your soup sir, even if it is out of the whitened skull of a baby harp seal.

This time, there is no need for you to flame on Johnny Storm, unless you are Roleby, and then…

Flame on Johnny Storm, flame on.

Once again, I am here to answer said question out of a deep desire to helpafy the needy masses yearning to be free from effort or just enjoy some sweet playabibble time.

I will stress I got this by doing a simple googlification operation.

Player.addperk 00058F72

That, lads and lasses, is bribery. Enjoy as you are wont to.

Deus

On December 7, 2011 at 7:40 pm

Dudes, the point of a video game is to have fun. If you have some stuck up superior complex towards RPG’s then don’t play them. Go play an FPS, RTS, or whatever it is you play. Maybe go outside and get an actual hobby (gasp) but criticizing the way another person likes to have fun is really unnecessary and it just makes out to be a stupid troll who no one really cares to listen to. Thus, you’ve just wasted your time here. Go back and play your games and let the cheaters cheat.

btw thanks for the perk code

Thank you for submitting this cheat (yes it is a cheat.. and I love’em!).

For the likes of Roleby, yes, you may think & say what you want.

HOWEVER, please consider this: to me ANY game (RPG, FPS, whatever) CAN and infat I do it, be regarded as a MOVIE.

You and many others like to play the game as a CHALLENGE.

See the difference?… I am the “lame” guy who likes to “participate” in a movie – you are the “rightful guy”, the hero, who likes to tackle on the challenge and save the World in the process.

I congratulate you and encourage you to leave us (forever) with your chest full, your head up and a feeling of rightfully earned pride. Smile, Hero and “leave the arena now. You’ve eared your rest” – now please give us some rest too. Thank you, bye-bye.

Now, for more serious things, aka cheats.

Gamefront Staff, could you please add the perk dscriptions to the codes (or direct us to where we can find which is which)? Thanks.

Ahahaha! I’m cheating at a RPG!!
And there is nothing you can do to stop me!
Boy am I ever enjoying myself with this cheating, woo hoo!

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve had to start with a stick and end up lord of the land, and it gets old once the leveling grind sets in.
You say you want to be a melee?
Well guess what, you can’t even have all the melee perks without maxing out a bunch of other non-melee skills.
Maybe taking a 100 strokes to kill each bandit is fun for you, I would rather pwn once I reach 100 skill and not wait to reach 100 skill in 5 classes of magery that I’ll never use, just so I have enough perks to go around.

Hey dumbass. I kicked the out of this game the right way. Now I’m doing this to have some fun with it. I paid for it, so piss off, I’ll play it how I want to. And for the record, they’re not referred to as cheats. They’re referred to as console commands. People call them cheats but those people are dead wrong. They might act like a cheat, but that’s not what they are. This brings me to my next point. You’re trying to tell me that Bethesda made this game and intended for me to play it the one non-cheating way.. however, if this were true, WHY WOULD THEY BOTHER ADDING CONSOLE COMMANDS THAT AAAAALLLLLLLLL PLAYERS HAVE ACCESS TO. God damn retards, pull your heads out of your asses.

There is a website I found with the perk descriptors, that’s how I found the bribery code for Duke. Gimme a sec to see if’n I can find it again…

Found it. Let it be said, and let the word go out, here is the holy land…

HOLY SH-….
God, you people are annoying. I played through the game without cheats. I’m granted the right to have some fun with it afterward by doing whatever I want. It came with the game that I paid $60 for. I’m going to use it! You can call me lame all you want, but you’re an idiot if you’re not going to utilize all the available features of the game.
Now, if you would please keep your useless, unnecessary opinions to yourselves, (afterall, you’re not convincing anybody of what you think, you’re just being an annoying c-…) then I would be able to read the USEFUL comments that are correcting the errors with the original post! THANK YOU!!

People fail so hard sometimes.

If I want to make a character in the game utilizing every cheat available in the game, I will. I have several character builds that I haven’t used one single cheat to complete.
Will I make one with cheats? Oh yes I will.
I did so in both Oblivion and Morrowind. After playing many hours without cheats of course. But blasting through the land with nothing to stop you can be quite entertaining to times.

Thanks for this cheat. I have beaten this game wihout cheats and now its RP time. This time I am going to be the main guy from The Elder Scrols Oblivion. I know that stuff happened several hundred years ago but that is why I am also going to be a Vampire the entire time I play :p

It makes sense that I am uber strong because I had several hundred years to train all skills. I just love to RP like this in these games. After this playthrough I might be a full mage wihout cheats, who knows.

Lol well why would cheating be wrong if they put it into the game? I mean you would think the creators of elder scrolls had a problem with it they wouldn’t of never created the ability to cheat.

I personally think that it’s fine to have the perks. I have all the perks on the game and find that they don’t benefit allot when dealing with dragons, at level 4 you still get your ass kicked if you pick a fight with a elder dragon with all perks. The fact is mainly I unlock the perks that are like smithing/enchanting Etc. I am just using this because the site that gave me those codes for enchanting and smithing perks are now participating on the SOPA Strike. Hopefully they vote no and the internet shall once again have Unblocked websites.

Now it’s time to have some fun.

Whatever

On January 21, 2012 at 11:04 am

Anyway.. for those having trouble running this.
1) Do NOT put the bat line at the beginning of the file. Your game will freeze because it created a loop. Your file is trying to call itself. The first line should be the first Player.addperk line
2) Do not call it with the file extension or you will get an error.
3) If the file can’t be found it is in the wrong directory.
that is all.. continue debating the evils of people playing a game different from you.

Whatever2

On January 21, 2012 at 11:05 am

If you STILL can’t run the file. Keep in mind you could type each of these Player.addperk lines in manually from the prompt.

Finally

Another website instructs you to name the file save_edit.txt
Some characters, including underscores, will cause a “Syntax error. Reference not allowed in this context. Missing parameter string.”
Try renaming your file.

Hey lames do not say how we have to play like i see in some previous comments. I just used this one (thanks for this) to see how hardcore a character is with full perks and daedric armors and weapons. This is a new game. And ya can have another savegame where you don’t cheat. Skyrim has many cheats but sure if you use them then you loss the money for the game (IF you bought it)…

Hi what a wild bunch.
Great read.

By the way does anyone know how to get the Windhelm house by any means?
I’ve hit the bug that will not allow you to purchase it.

If the companies developing games or like Microsoft (Sorry for swearing.) actually produced software or an OS that did not have defects or bugs and demand good money for beta releases (Beta release any software that is not bug free as a retail software should be bug free. Thanks Microsoft for the F up and most follow your lead for buggy stuff) claiming them to be a full product then go meditate on this before bagging anyone.

To the idiots arguing about how this is game-breaking and anyone who uses it is an idiot/missed the point/stupid tool who shouldn’t have been allowed to buy the game:

Get over yourself. Addperk doesn’t even work right, half the time, anyways. Added perks often don’t trigger (one-handed crit charge, for example, didn’t proc for me after I did showracemenu and rebuilt my perk trees).

If you don’t want to do it, why did you click here in the first place? What kind of sad life do you lead? Chill your balls.

Don’t tell people they’re wrong for playing how they want. The entire point of skyrim is that it’s something for you, not anybody else. Hence the lack of multiplayer…? The latter-most point notwithstanding, you’re just being retarded for chastising people for using the console.

Children.

On another note, is there a known way to add perk points, rather than perks? player.advlevel doesn’t add perk points, and I can’t find any info on UESP or other skyrim wikis. Perhaps a script? It shouldn’t be this hard to test my mods :/

On February 17, 2012 at 7:27 pm

To every person who believes that player.addperk does not work, or only works half the time, it is because you do not know how to place the batch file correctly and in the right place. First of all, the perks work in sequence, just like in the game. You cant get Daedric Smithing perk without first getting the Steel Smithing perk. Because some people are too lazy or stupid to manually separate the perks in the correct order, i have done it myself for you. Feel free to pass it on as well. Bring up Notepad on your computer, and pre-save it to this location, which you should have if you downloaded Steam and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim correctly

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\Data

Save it to that location, but choose a save name that’s easy to remember. Mine is saved as “addperk” but without the “. Then copy/paste these SORTED and ORGANIZED perks into that saved notepad. Save it again to the EXACT SAME location you already saved it. All you need to do then, after it’s saved, is go to the game, bring up the command thing, and type in “bat addperk” without “. If you named it something else, like pancakes, type in “bat pancakes”. You get the idea.
And if you need any more assistance, Google your question, or check other forum sites, or email me. Questions are not stupid, so ask away. if you want to email me i’ll help in any way i can. reach me at launco001@gmail.com
Enjoy!

Elder Scrolls games are about story and lore, unnecessarily spending many extra hours playing through the game is not something everyone likes doing. I always play through the game the first time without using the console, but after spending 200+ hours in the game I think using a few console commands isn’t exactly a deadly ing sin.

Here’s some pointers that should clear up an questions or problems.
If your running a 64 Bit OS, use the following file path. (Windows 7/8, XP and Vista will have a slightly different file path))
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim
Otherwise follow this
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim

Save the text file in this folder. (just call it something like everyperk)
In the text folder, don’t copy in the ‘bat [name of text file]‘ part, it isn’t needed and will probably create problems.

Next, while in the game, open the console (the ` key) and type in ‘bat everyperk’ (or bat [whatever you called it]).

That worked for me.

(Yes, I know it’s an old post, but there is no point in leaving anyone behind)

This is probably for people who want to make super over powered characters.
It’s fun if you’ve beaten the game already.
