Skyrim Director Praises “Giant Battles of Skyrim” PC Mod

NOTE: This is Part 1 of a five part interview series with Wil Wheaton. Check out Game Front’s E3 Channel for more news, previews and Wil Wheaton videos!

Recently, the one and only Wil Wheaton got a chance to talk to Skyrim Director Todd Howard for Game Front. Obviously, Todd has a vested interest in what the Skyrim modding community is doing, so it was interesting to see which mods he enjoyed the most. It turns out that one of his personal favorites is a Skyrim battle of monumental proportions. I’ll let Todd describe it in his own words:

This part in the interview begins at 5:50.

Todd Howard:
“There’s a movie, called “Giant Battles of Skyrim,” where they must have 500 guys. We’ve never done that, so I’ve never seen how the AI would work. So I watch the video, and I was like: ‘This actually works. This is so awesome!”

Wil Wheaton:
“How cool is that?”

Todd Howard:
“We watched that in the office. That thing has got several million views on YouTube. It’s a great movie that uses a bunch of mods to create these Lord of the Rings-style battles between undead and guys with armor. It’s awesome. You have to watch it.”

After watching the video (embedded below), I can understand Todd’s enthusiasm. It is indeed a scene very reminiscent of Lord of the Rings, specifically the battle at Helm’s Deep. The video definitely deserves every one of its views and the Youtube view count currently sits at over three million. Perhaps Todd’s fondness for these epic large scale battles will give him some inspiration for the next Elder Scrolls installment. Definitely check out the video below and tell us what you think.

Amazing video. Went to Tyrannicon and watched another 10 videos or so . Hands down one of the best voice actors, directors and gaming channels found on youtube. Had me laughing so hard at times, or saying to myself, ” does it get any more epic than this “.
