Deathbrand Armor Set

Get a more in-depth guide for finding this special armor with our Deathbrand Armor Locations Guide.

  • Armor Type: Light
  • Special Effects: Inceased effects / abilities when wearing the complete set of Deathbrand Armor. Various other enchantments.
  • How to Get:
    • To start the quest to find the Deathbrand Armor, you’ll need to find a book called “Deathbrand”. These books are located all over Solstheim, but one can be found in the same treasure room that contains the Champion’s Cudgel. Check out how to get the Cudgel on Game Front’s Best Weapons Guide.
    • To find the Helm, travel to Haknir’s Shoal. This area is located on a small island just off the northeast coast of Solstheim. The island is located in a small U-shaped indent in the island, right below three slightly larger islands further off shore. The helmet gives Waterbreathing.
    • At this location, there is an Ancient Chest. Each chest contains another piece of Deathbrand Armor, you’ll need to hunt for more Ancient Chests to complete the set.
    • Deathbrand Armor is located in a chest north of the Earth Stone and northwest of Raven Rock. Just keep going until you hit water in the corner. The Deathbrand Armor provides 15 Stamina for each extra piece of Deathbrand Armor worn.
    • Deathbrand Gauntlets are located far north of the previous armor. Follow the shore until you find a waterfall. Cross the water and look north for a ditch, the chest is inside. The Gauntlets increase your 1-handed attack power.
    • The last piece of armor, the Deathbrand Boots, are found east of Frostmoth Fort. Cross the water near the shore and look for a dead body. The boots increase carrying capacity by 10 per worn Deathbrand item.

Blackguard Armor

  • Armor Type: Light
  • Special Effects: Carrying capacity increased by 50
  • How to Get:
    • A set can be crafted after acquiring the Advanced Bonemold Armor Recipe. Talk to the Raven Rock Blacksmith and ask about the black mark on his door.
    • It can also be found in Glover Mallory’s house.
    • Not as powerful as many armors, but a reliable and simple light set useful for sneaking.

Dragon Mask: Ahzidal

  • Armor Type: Heavy
  • Special Effects: Inceases fire resistance by 50% and fire spell damange by 25%
  • How to Get:
    • Go to Kolbjorn Burrow and speak with Ralis Sedarys to start the “Unearthed” quest.
    • To begin, you’ll need to donate a large sum of cash to get the Burrow excavated. After giving the money, wait a few days and follow the quest instructions until the excavation is mostly complete.
    • At the end of the quest, you’ll face the Dragon Priest Ahzidal. Defeat him and loot the body to find this mask.

Dragon Mask: Miraak

  • Armor Type: Heavy
  • Special Effects: Increases Magicka by 70 points.
  • How to Get:
    • This mask can be collected from Miraak at the end of the main quest line of Dragonborn.

Dragon Mask: Zahkriisos

Theres a set of armor I found called deathbrand, I found it wandering the edges of the northern, northeastern area of solstheim, there was a group of pirates who ambushed me at the site, the captain held a map where I easily located 2 other pieces of armor, but have but unsuccessful in finding the last piece. The armor has unique enchantments that get stronger for each piece of the armor you wear.

Miraak’s mask is actually Light armor and gives you 70 points of magicka

I’m pretty sure the Deathbrand armor is light. My armor rating is only 60 points below my armor rating for Dragonscale. My heavy armor skill is still about 10, so this would not be the case if it were heavy armor…unless it has a crazy high armor rating and ends up with a rating in the thousands when i level up my heavy armor skill.

@JLanceCombs,

You’re absolutely right, it is LIGHT armor. Updated!

so far the Deathbrand armor gives me the highest armor rating than daedric or any other set.
with daedric my rating is around 800 with the deathbrand its 1005 rating while using the dragon aspect shout. and its light armor, if it was heavy armor oh boy it be even more beast.
