Skyrim Dragonborn: Respec Guide (Reset Perk Points)

The Dragonborn DLC for Skyrim comes with an extra bonus for diligent players reaching the end of the main quest chain. Avoiding spoilers; you’ll be able to reset and reapply your perk points for each particular skill without changing the others. If that sounds useful to you, and you haven’t quite finished the campaign on Solstheim just yet, check out our guide below to see what you’re in for.

Join Game Front’s Dragonborn walkthrough and explore this massive expansion with our tips to guide you. To get even deeper into the secrets of Solstheim, check out the Dragonborn cheats list, with pages on how to buy a house, where to find Black Books, best weapons, and info on taming dragons.

There’s plenty more Skyrim coverage on Game Front to check out. Take a look at the Marriage Guide, PC Console Codes, or learn how to turn into a vampire, then learn how to cure yourself of vampirism. All that and more can be discovered listed on the Skyrim cheats page.

Respec Guide

  • When the Skyrim: Dragonborn campaign is finished, you’ll be able to reset your perk points and reapply them however you like.
  • After the story is finished, players can gain access to the Black Book: Waking Dreams. Reading it will return the player to the chamber where you can activate the reset as often as you like, at the cost of a Dragon Soul.
  • Surrounding the chamber are many floating symbols. Interacting with these symbols resets the points in that particular perk tree.
  • If you’re looking to start over, or try a different gameplay style, this is a great place to start without having to create an all new character.

Very nice. There are a few perks where that I haven’t used as much as I thought I would, so this is quite useful.

There are dozens of popular steam workshop mods to accomplish this, many which have been around for a year. I wonder if they conflict?

what are the “Dragon Soulstone” ?

i just got the dragonborn DLC, and have not started yet.

i have a level 81 character with every quest done that i could fine. and 50+ dragon souls in the shout page.

i restarted the game because when i got the hearthfire DLC it would only allow me to buy one house in dawnstar, and not the others in morthal and falkreath.

original i was just going to get the 3 houses for the achievement, but now i decided to pick better perks and finish everything again.

But with this i might keep my save i already have.

@capawesome9870,

Sorry for the confusion, but a Dragon Soulstone is just another, kinda wrong term, for what should be listed as a “Dragon Soul”. These are gained anytime you kill a dragon, but you probably already know that.

Just follow the methods above and complete the Dragonborn DLC, it totally works.

This is very usefull but i see a way to make it op and its bad. As u have mastered enchanting smithing and alchemy with ur perks and u have made ur gear u dont need perks there anymore (if u do u can just reset again to make what u need and back) so after gettin ur gear u can just reset and put all ur alchemy smith and enchant perks anywhere else…

this may be a problem seeing as i have managed to get that bug at the temple or miraak not allowing me to keep doing the quests and so i cant do this—i have no other save because i needed to save storage space

so you have to have the 1.9 patch AND the Dragonborn DLC AND complete the Dragonborn mainquest AND the Waking Dreams Black book?
