Skyrim Fan Proposes to Girlfriend With Amulet of Mara
A Skyrim fan recently proposed to his fiancée with a replica of the Amulet of Mara.
Sarah Briody, the recipient of the proposal, says that her groom-to-be used the Amulet, which opens up the game’s romantic dialogue options, to mimic how characters in Skyrim ask each other to marry.
“He gave me the amulet and while I recognized what it was—it didn’t really click as to WHAT it was,” said Briody. “I put it on and he started to smile from ear to ear. Then he said ‘Is that an Amulet of Mara? I’m surprised someone like you isn’t spoken for.’ Then it finally registered that he was proposing! He got down on one knee and slipped the ring on my finger.”
Briody’s new fiancé wasn’t just trying to be cute with his method of proposal either. According to Briody, she introduced him to Skyrim and the two have spent some long hours playing the game side by side.
“I introduced [my fiance] to Skyrim—and he enjoys every minute of the game,” explained Briody. “I love watching him play because we both have very different game styles. We do play other multiplayer games together when we have the opportunity.”
This, of course, isn’t the first gaming-themed marriage proposal proposal to hit the internet. Just this past February a man proposed to fiancé with the aid of Divinity: Original Sin. The past has also seen several cases in the past of skilled individuals hacking games to include proposals for their significant others.
