So did you find any of this on your own or did you copy and rephrase from TES Wiki? Because it sorely looks like the latter; the same omissions of details are there.

    Ilia

-Located in Darklight Tower (far southeast from Riften)(Random note, dragon located nearby)

-Enlist her help by completing her quest inside Darklight tower.

-Powerful mage. Best guess is around the adept level.

How do you get Lydia to marry you, some say just have her as a companion for a while and it will eventually happen… IDK, I just want to know exactly how to do it.

    Shook

    On November 14, 2011 at 5:19 am

To get married you have to wear an amulet of mara and then talk to her, if ur rep is high enough she will marry you… this works with most characters in the game, male or female so be careful… I don’t know if it happens for all marriages, but if u marry ysolda in whiterun she opens a shop and that gives u an extra spot to dump gear, which is very helpful later in the game… might be worth looking into.

Im interested in followers from Riverwood, but I seemd to have angered that entire town (something to do with killing a chiceken or some robbery). My bounty is 70 or so. Is there any way i can win back favor in the town so I can complete the subquests there?

    Curtis

    On November 14, 2011 at 1:54 pm

Wynn, you simply need to go into a major city, Whiterun should suffice, and get a guard to stop you then you just choose the option of paying your bounty off and you’re free to go.

I recruited Illia and I loved having her as a follower but once I came across the questline Proving Honor in which I have Farkas for a short time as a follower I lost Illia. I have looked in Rift tower again but did not see her. Has anyone an idea where she left to that I may go pick her up again?

    Andrew

I meant darklight tower in the last post.

    infinitysquared

    On November 14, 2011 at 8:41 pm

There’s a mage follower inside the the inn at Riften.

He’s another pure mercenary type. I thought the idea of a mercenary mage was pretty cool.

    WheresMyStuff

    On November 14, 2011 at 9:45 pm

So once you’ve asked your follower to pick up some stuff for you, how do you get them to drop it? My follower Lydia has a ton of valuable stuff I want to pawn off, but I can’t seem to find how to get her to drop it.

    Altmermage

    On November 14, 2011 at 11:59 pm

You can also recruit (sort of) Arniel from the mage’s college. If you help him with his quest chain he will die but you will get a spell that lets you summon his shade in combat. He is an exceptionally powerful mage. I am not sure if there are any conjuration requirements but if you picked up Illia as a companion and couple Illia with Arniel’s shade then you have a very powerful duo.

    Andrew

    On November 15, 2011 at 6:33 am

Well the items Illia had could have been used but I really just need the follower. @infinitysquared & @altermage Thank you, I’ll use what you posted.

    On November 15, 2011 at 9:29 am

    I think Illia is bugged..

i have her as follower, she is great, but id like to try other followers too.
So i saved and tryed dismissing her, then went to darklight tower and didn’t find her at all.
Then i tryed taking her to darklighttower before dismissing her, then she walks to the center of the first room there and just stands there, she only says random things if i try to talk to her and wont give any speech options :(

    On November 15, 2011 at 3:10 pm

Can your companions die? I ask because I just fought a dragon with Lydia and we were able to take it down but she was getting worked over for most of the fight and it didn’t seem to bother her at all.

    thclsddmt

    On November 16, 2011 at 12:23 am

@becks77 followers cannot die unless you accidentally kill them, when they “die” in combat they are wounded on the ground (in a similar fashion to Gears of War 2-3) they will get up usually when you defeat all the enemies, when they are wounded it can be easy to accidentally kill them, be careful when using shouts as Unrelenting Force will kill them no problem, also weapons or spells with explosion effect can harm them, j’zargos scrolls of flame cloak will blow up undead that come close to you, be careful!

    Kevin Thielenhaus

    On November 16, 2011 at 12:26 am

Followers cannot die, they just get knocked unconscious. When a fight is over, they’ll wake up and join you. The only way to kill a follower is if you kill them yourself. Just don’t do that!

    Matt Osborn

    On November 16, 2011 at 9:14 am

I found a guy in the Darkwater Pass by Nilheim in a prison cell at bottom of Falmer cave. When you escort him out, you can talk to him, and have him help you. You can give him weapons and armor, he’s good at Bows and Swords. My problem is, I left him somewhere and can’t find him now. I can’t get Lydia to join me because I already have a follower. I tried fast travel, going back to where I found him, checking my house. Any other ideas?

    Kevin Thielenhaus

    On November 16, 2011 at 9:26 am

If you lose a follower, there is a complicated way to fix the problem on PC.

You need to use Console Commands to do it, use the tilde (`) key to bring down the console.

Start by loading a saved game where you know you still have a follower. Click on the follower, and bring down the console (`). You should be able to see the numerical code associated with the follower. It will look something like this; “000a2c94″

Write the number down, you’ll need it for later. Load your current game where you’re missing the follower.

    Now, type: prid ####

The prid console commands selects whatever code is put in. Replace #### with whatever the follower’s code was.

    With the follower now selected no matter where they are in the world, type in this console command;

    moveto player

Poof, the follower should appear right in front of you.

Illia is not dragonborn. Stop with that nonsense. Shouts are not limited to dragonborn. Dragonborns simply have the ability to absorb dragon essences – anyone can learn thu’um, but it takes quite a bit of time. The fact that Illia is a witch and humans like Ulric can use shouts may give you a indication that shouts are not dragonborn specific.

    Altmermage

    On November 16, 2011 at 6:20 pm

Blah…its called a simple mistake. If you notice I made that comment the first night the game was out. Obviously I know now that she isnt. Please keep your rude comments to yourself.

About an hour after gaining Lydia as a housecarl and a follower, I went exploring outside whiterun with her. She got hit by a giant, and dissapeared into the sky. I never saw her again.

A few days letter a messenger came up to me with a note from the jarl saying that she was dead and she’d left me 300 gold.

I’d love to know where she landed.

Npcs can die I have killed many in the final blows of battle. If you use magic it makes it pretty easy to kill them don’t worry though just remember where they died pick up a new slave and get back your equipment. As far as I can tell no npc is stronger than the next just different fighting styles.

I think my follower (Lydia the housecarl) has some kind of disease. She can barely move and is dragging along, leaning on her shield on the ground. The graphics and impact on gameplay are a very nice touch, but it’s also a pain obviously, as I’m halfway thru a dungeon and she’s useless in combat now. Anybody seen this? Any ideas? Thanks!

    @makan

Sometimes you can get somebody to follow you within a ruin or cave in addition to your follower, but when that’s over it’s over. You can get a dog to follow you in addition to follower and if you are into conjuration you can “make” a follow essentially. Here’s a fun thing to do. Have a dog follow you, have a mage for a follower who casts conjuration for attronaches . Then, use your master level conjuration to conjure 2 attronaches. So now it’s you, a dog, 3 attronaches and a follower. Nice huh?

    On November 25, 2011 at 10:17 am

Can’t find your follower? Easiest way is go to dragons reach and do a few jobs for the companions, after 1-2 jobs there will be a quest when one of them replaces your lost follower :) tell them you don’t need there help and your free to recruit who ever you want again…..

    Lydia is NOT a Thief!

    According to http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Lydia

“Lydia is primarily a warrior class character…..She also has very low sneaking skill, alerting enemies to her presence nearly immediately.”

    Nox

    On December 1, 2011 at 5:50 pm

Followers most certainly can die if they aren’t flagged. They usually do not, but if they get knocked down on HP AND are poisoned etc. they will die. Trust me on that.

    Robin

    On December 9, 2011 at 12:02 pm

I’ve done a lot of travelling with Lydia and I’ve always thought she was a warrior. Anyway, I have her using plate armor and a two-handed battleaxe. She’s not too great at hiding, but maybe that’s because she’s wearing plate armor. Her default armor is steel though, which is heavy armor.

Was anyone under the impression Lydia was a “rogue”?

i have lydia, a stray dog from a quest who is invincible, also the blade woman from riverwood and her older male friend who is a wizard, i have sanguine rose so i’m able to summon a dadra warrior plus the older dude summons an alley as well, the true beauty is that the blonde blade woman from riverwood and her male friend and the stray dog are all invincible cause they are all main story characters when they join u do not do their quests and they will stay with u. they do not however carry loot for u.

I suddenly lost Lydia after the incident in the College of Winterhold, where Ancano is between the magic shield and the orb and an explosion occurs. Now, she was carrying some expensive and I need her back. I have no clue if she’s dead or , but I either need to know where her corpse is, or if theres a way for me to get her back. No, older saves are not possible as I only started giving a after playing alot further trough the game. Help required, please!

To go to Illia’s location open the script menu with ~ then type Player.moveto 0004b22e
You will fast travel to her location, I found her outside Windhelm, even though she was dismissed at Whiterun.

You won’t be able to ask her to join without opening the script menu up again ~
typing prid 0004b22e then press enter
    setrelationshiprank player 3

Also is it possible to resurrect a dragon to fight for you?? I wish you could buy a dragon in this game cuz I would be like awesome to get like two dragons fighting each other:))

    On January 28, 2012 at 2:14 pm

When you do the main dragon questline and you call the dragon to dragonsreach it’ll give you the shout to call him. After completing that quest you can call him to help you fight other dragons if you’re outside. Pretty helpful when youre higher levels and the dragons are super tough! :) @darkangel

Fix to all problems = load earlier save. Save every few hours or so just in case you lose a follower/get one killed/do something dumb/etc…

It’s amazing how many people play RPG’s yet don’t carry multiple saves. This game is more generous than most with 3 autosaves, but don’t count on them. The bugs here are well known and notorious, as they are in nearly every game Bethesda has put out. The only sure fire way to be sure you don’t have to restart the game if one of the follower bugs occurs is to have multiple saves.

Do that and your problems will be solved. Otherwise you might reach a point where you will literally have to restart the game to get the desired effect.

Oh and Lydia excels at sneaking…are you serious??? The woman moves with the stealth of a world war 1 tank. No matter how high your sneak is, she will give you away every time. Still a great follower though, just tell her to wait when you need to get your stealth on.

Xbox 360, on the original no updated version of the game.
IDK if this will help anyone or not, but I have Marcurio as a follower (to me, he is the best follower because of how high power his magic attacks are) and more than a few times he has literally just dissapeared on me. Most of the time it was when a special event happend.
*SPOILER(probably not anymore)* like when the Dark Brotherhood’s old sanctuary was destroyed. I had him waiting by the front door as I assassinated the “emporer” when I got back, he was gone. I treid recruiting another follower and I couldn’t because I apparently already had one.
About 3 days past after each time I “lost” him, I would find him back at the inn in Riften, where I found him. He still had everything I had given to him.

Also, he has about 400 pound of equipment that I cannot remove from his inventory. ALL of it consists of Steel Plate Armor and Elven Armor (even the Elven Light Armor and Gilden Elven Armor). The game calls it his “original equipment.” But I can still take the enchanted Steel Plate and Elven Armor away from him.
Can anyone help with this? As I find it anoying to use the “Infinite Follower Iventory Glich” all the time.
    Thx

Some priest of mara who will follow you after lifting the nightmare curse in dawnstar (when the daedric prince orders you to kill him you obviously can’t if you want him to follow you although if u kill him you get a cool staff.)

Compannions CAN die from other powerful creatures, like trolls or dragons. Just to clear it up. I know this because on the way to High Hrothgar for the first time, i was ambushed by three frost trolls, at level 11 too, and killed one but lost every health potion so i just ran, yelling to Lydia to get moving, but because shes so loyal she stayed to fight. So i got out of range of the trolls and waited a few hours, nothing, then i go back to two trolls, a dead troll, and a dead Lydia. Also i was nowhere near her so the people saying they can only die from yourself are lying. But there are followers marked as important so they cant die. I know of Dekkuthus, Serana from Dawnguard dlc, Cicero, and Mjoll the Lioness. Sorry its so long.
