Vampires return from hiding in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. Not content to hide in the sequel’s shadow, the vampires have crawled out of Oblivion to infect the living with their vile disease. Once infected, you’ll desire only one thing — blood, and without blood, you’ll become more of a monster. Vampires are dangerous creatures that stalk in the shadows, become of the predators instead of the prey, and learn more about vampires here with out nifty guide.

How To Become A Vampire

  • When in combat against vampires, you have a chance of contracted vampirism every time they land a hit on you.
  • If you contract the disease, it can be cured with any regular disease potion — unless you wait three days. After three days, the disease becomes permanent, and you gain the powers of a vampire.
  • If you know a location where vampires gather in Skyrim, please list it in the comments below.

Known Vampire Locations

  • Vampires can be found in the Bloodlet Throne, up in the mountains from Falkreath. (Thanks to Steack!)
  • More vampires are found at Haemar’s Shame, along the southern pass around The Throat of the World. Follow the path east of Helgen and you’re on the right track. (Thanks to Brian!)

The Four Stages of Vampirism

  • Vampires will succumb to their thirst for blood over a period of time. The longer you go without blood, the more powerful the benefits of vampirism will become, while the weaknesses will get worse.
  • You can only drink blood from sleeping NPCs. Interact with a sleeping NPC while sneaking to have the option to suck their blood.

Stage One

  • At stage one, vampires have a 25% increase to their illusion spells. They are 25% harder for NPCs to detect, have 100% resistance to diseases or poisons, and are 25% resistant to ice.
  • On the flipside, they’re 25% weaker to fire. Outside, in the sunlight, they also take a 15 point decrease to their health, magic, and stamina. Those three stats also do not regenerate.
  • Vampires at stage one have the power to reanimate the dead to serve them. They can also improve their night vision with another power.
  • Vampires also gain a spell that allows them to drain the health of their enemies.
  • As each stage increases, some effects stay the same, while the rest change. To be brief, we’ll only list the changes between stages.

Stage Two

  • At stage two, vampires at 50% more resistant to frost, while their vampiric servant and vampiric drain powers become more powerful.
  • They also become 50% weaker to fire, and have their health, stamine, and magic stats lowered by 30.
  • They gain another power; that of Vampiric Seduction. Enemies, either animals are people, can be calmed for 30 seconds. That means they won’t attack.

Stage Three

  • Vampires now have a 75% resistance to ice, while their powers of reanimating the dead and draining the living become more powerful.
  • Their weaknesses also grow, they are 75% more weak to fire, and their health, magic, and stamina are reduced by 45 points in the sunlight.

Stage Four

  • The last stage of vampirism. These vampires are 100% resistant to ice, while their draining and servant powers become even stronger.
  • They are also 100% weak to fire, with their health, stamina, and magic stats lowered by 60 points in the sunlight.
  • Stay out of the light and away from humans, because NPCs are all hostile to stage 4 vampires.
  • Luckily, stage 4 vampires gain another new power — Embrace of Shadows, which turns your character invisible for three minutes.

This (Vampire) Thing is GAME-BREAKING! this game loses ALL FUN FACTOR VALUE when your being chased by every person you meet all because you cant FEED. ive tried 10 TIMES to drink blood and all it says is (Pick pocket) i can figure out (OR FIND ANY GUIDES ON THE SUBJECT) about how to feed, how to get RID of this (fun) Disease, i mean how is this fun? oh goodie i get gang-banged by everyone within a 100 yards of me, so now i know what its like to be black in the 1920s?!? I JUST WANTED TO DRINK BLOOD AND SNEAK AROUND! i didnt ask to have my save file RUINED.. ive seen people asking ALL OVER THE INTERNET (How do i feed? how do i get rid of this crap, how do i use the skills) and NOBODY WILL ANSWER! so i guess im just gonna have to re-roll my character after a solid day of playing. its just pure BS that the Devs would put something so STUPID into a game they know people cant wait for! they took a concept that was BRILLIANT and turned it into a major drag! and yes before anyone asks i AM mad, ive been trying to figure this crap out for 5 HOURS now and hunting around online only makes it worse!

werewolf>vampire

On November 12, 2011 at 1:56 am

in response to mack ^^, i don’t know about stage 4 cure or anything but i know if you haven’t slept you can take the cure disease potion, but if its way too late for that, become a werewolf if you can. That automatically cures the disease. you can do this by doing missions for the companions… although i’m not sure if you’re still able to do that, depending on how NPCs are reacting to you now…

Nate

On November 12, 2011 at 2:25 am

Just an idea, havent tried it, but if you go to Whiterun, beside the big tree, there is a statue of one of the gods. I do not remember the name, starts with a T. If you select it, it tells you that it has removed all diseases.

Mia

On November 12, 2011 at 2:29 am

You can’t reverse the process but you can feed on people who are sleeping in beds and by doing this you will satiate your hunger and no one will attack you(except hostiles).

Nate

On November 12, 2011 at 2:38 am

Talos. In front of the Dragonsreach

Brian

On November 12, 2011 at 3:07 am

Tried the shrine in Whiterun, no go, but apparently there is how to do it online right now. Costs something like 700 gold though in game.

I’ve become a Vampire too! I had no idea this was a bad thing (I’m completely new to this franchise, I’ve never played The Elder Scrolls series before), and now everyone is attacking me and I cannot do . I can wander around killing wolves (yay!), but if I enter any city, everyone attacks me and it renders the game completely unplayable.

If I had known this was gonna happen, I would have attempted to find some cure somehow, but now it’s too late.

What do I do? Any help would be highly appreciated.

@Nate, I will try that in an hour or so. Thanks a lot for the tip :)

Dumbasses, when you sneak up on a sleeping person, it says pickpocket. But when you select it it gives you the option to feed

Zaionara

On November 12, 2011 at 6:24 am

To drink Blood you only have to sneak to a sleeping person and hit e! I know it only says “pick pocket” but when you hit it you can choose if you want to pick pocket or drink blood…….same as in oblivion

Isaac

Become a werewolf that cures it and has more advantages and only one disadvantage

Eazy

Or you can activate the Talos monument by Windhelm and it can cure your diseases.

AngryVampire

@Eazy

I just came across that Shrine of Talos, and it does not remove the vampirism.

@Thanatar, are you saying if you ‘feed’ on sleeping persons, it removes your vampirism? :s

BOJECZKO

On November 12, 2011 at 11:34 am

Hey guys to get rid of vampirism go to any inkeeper in skyrim and keep asking them if they have heard any rumours and the will give you a mission to find a guy who studies vampirism

Amy

On November 12, 2011 at 11:56 am

To those who can’t feed, sneak to a sleeping person, stand up and press E and you’ll have a screen come up where you can select “Feed” or “Talk to (Name of Person)”

Cure diseases is fail.

Raven

On November 12, 2011 at 2:19 pm

Everyone complaining about Vampirism fails…
1 – You can feed. Sneak up to someone while they are asleep. It only says “pickpocket”, but when you select it you have the option to feed or pickpocket.
2 – People are attacking you because you are a stage 4 vampire and haven’t fed in 72 game hours. Use Embrace of Shadows to sneak into a town & find someone to feed.
3 – If you did not want to become a vampire, you should have cured the disease before it turned you. The game tells you when you have contracted the disease. Do the cure quest or start over.
4 – Werewolves might be better, but I personally like playing as a vampire. All my Oblivion characters were vampires & it looks like all my Skyrim characters will be vampires as well. Vampirism is better in this game than Oblivion (no sun damage & you don’t look like your great grandpa).

Lucidnightmare

On November 12, 2011 at 6:57 pm

oh btw Cure Disease won’t remove vampirism..it will remove the preceding disease that you contract from fighting vampires which if not cured in 3 days (72 in-game hrs) will turn you into a vampire. This applies to the altars of the gods as well..they only cure the preceding disease. To remove vampirism either become a werewolf or ask innkeepers about rumors until you get a lead on a guy that studies vampires..pursue that. If people are attacking you then you are most likely at stage 4 vampirism so use Embrace of Shadows to turn invisible for 3min then infiltrate a town, find someone asleep and activate them and you will be provided a Feed option. After you feed you will be reverted back to stage 1 vampirism. Feed every night to remain this way. You can prolong feeding to become more powerful in every vampiric aspect but it will enhance the negatives as well.

ace

On November 12, 2011 at 8:40 pm

You can also go to pinemoon cave, quest you can get early on.

Brandon

On November 12, 2011 at 8:47 pm

Sup guys. I do not want anyone to suffer as i did, i somehow got the vampire “condition” (not a disease, and cannot be cured by a potion) and became a stage 4 vampire. It sucked because everywhere i wen’t people were trying to kill me asap. I could no longer do my main quests. The only way i managed to cure myself completely was by “feeding on people” by pressIng pickpocket while their sleeping. Once drank, my char was no longer blood thirsty and nobody attacked him. I had to find any Barkeeper and ask about rumors and they will tell you about Falion who is in Marthol. You will need a black gemstone and fill it with a human(grand) stone and bring it back to him. You will need the Spell “Soul Trap” Kill a bandit or something after using soul trap on it. Make sure black gem is in yur inventory..The rest is simple. YOU NEED TO DRINK the people otherwise you will have to load it from an earlier game.

**For those of you that can’t figure how to feed on your own**

On a sleeping npc use the pickpocket option FI.RST. From there the feed option is available.

CryteK

On November 13, 2011 at 1:46 pm

Nice, I’m a Werewolf on my first playthrough. Thinking of becoming a Vampire in my second, as it looks like (according to this great article)
the disease is much, eh, ‘improved’ than from in TES IV Oblivion.
Oh, and for people saying ‘WTF I CANT FEED WTF DO I DO THIS GAME SUCKS’ you can feed by going into a persons house, going up to someone who’s asleep, crouch, and press A, even though it says ‘pickpocket’ the option ‘feed’ comes up. Once you feed, you should be fine, and if your on stage four, (read about it in the article above) people will stop attacking you.
Tip – Use an invisibility spell and a detect life spell to make sure you don’t get caught tresspassing, and to make sure you don’t run into a guy around the corner.

PS – If your wondering how to become a werewolf, go to the city of Whiterun, located in the centre of Skyrim and North of Riverwood, and join the companions, and speak to Skjor after a number of quests are completed and your ‘A member of the Circle’ Which is the council of the Companions.

No name

On November 13, 2011 at 1:51 pm

If your looking for a cure for vampirism then you need an empty black soul gem and need to find a mage named Fionen or something like that, just look into rumors at each of the holds and you’ll eventually find his name, I’m pritty sure that he’s in that village with the burned down house near the abandoned shack where you get your first dark brotherhood quest.

AUSTIN

On November 13, 2011 at 2:18 pm

Also, there is a quest in the Dark Brotherhood quest line where you have to kill a vampire. His name is Hern. His wife and him are both vampires. As for everyone who was complaining about not being able to feed, you just sneak to a sleeping person and hit “pickpocket” it gives you the option to feed. Geez. It’s not that hard to figure out.

when you pick pocket a sleeping person the option “feed on or pickpocket”
comes up

Cyrus

On November 13, 2011 at 6:53 pm

there is a cure, and to become a vamp, you must have them use their feeding spell on you. it is only a 10% chance each time to be prepared to use a lot of health potions or use your spells. now for the cure you will need a black soul gem, these can be hard to find sometimes, so an alternate method would be to get the Dark Star from the azura mission, (once you get the star you can either take it to a mage who turns it into a black star or take it back to azuras shrine and keep it white) as for feeding just go into sneak, go to a home, find a sleeping person, and click on them despite what it says do it. you will get the option. another location is broken fang cave it had an apprentice and master vampire in it.

Being a vampire over 46 days in sjyrim. Sometimes it’s tricky but becoming invisible on stagr 4 makes it al working fine. When there is standing pickpocket. Just click and jou get the oppurtonity to feed. Tip: go into houses after 1 pm.

TO ALL OF YOU WHO ASK THE FOLLOWING: “How do i feed???” If you were to read more you would know that you feed on SLEEPING people! Not ppl walking around. “Whats the point?” Its for people who are into sneaking around at night and raping ppl in stealth (like me). you cant roam during the day unless you want to be weak and attacked by ppl, thats why you always wonder at night time! if you sneak around a town at night, nobody will attack you see? this all sounds nice for me, more sneaking (NPCs already cant see me nearly at all) so this would be good for me… the only thing is will i not be able to talk to ANYONE? O_O the game will become lonely if thats so lol o but then again now that i typed that, i thiink you go up in stages if you dont feed so i think if i feed it will put me back to stage 3 or 2 or whatever :) :) :) so thats sweeeet!!!

Trojianmaru

On November 14, 2011 at 5:21 am

Became a vampire last night using this guide n it’s awesome, though it’d no doubt be tougher for non stealthy people. if you wanna be a vampire, you gotta have high sneak skill, as well as lock picking skill, as to feed you need to pick the lock on people’s door, sneak into their room at night n drink their blood. n if you go too long without drinking n become stage 4 (awesome for sneaking n fighting frost enemies with it’s 100% frost resist) then even the guards will hunt you, so you have to sneak even more. if you wanna be loud n stronger n a beast, join the companions n become a werewolf, if you wanna be an ultimate ninja, become a vampire (n I don’t get what they meant about it being “vampire mode” it’s almost identical to Oblivon’s vampires, with a few slight changes n some nice extras, like every time you step outside in the day time, everything gets really bright n it makes you feel like you wanna run into the shade but their mostly just role playing changes

Aleria

On November 14, 2011 at 8:18 am

you can take down your vampireisum from stage 4 but its difficult first change ur armor and hide your face wait till dark if uve been to a city that knows your a vampire and has seen you recently wait 1 or 2 days the easyest way is if you go to whiterun castle around 2 or 3 in the morning walk in and use ur embrace shadows as soon as you get in sneek up into the war room then intothe big door on the left when you get in there theres a room on the right sneek in close the door behind you and the kings adviser is sleeping there walk up to him sleeping click on him and chose feed after that it should take you back to stage 1 and you will be safe atleast for a little while. advice once you hit stage 3 dont go in the light in public also feed asap try to feed befor you even hit stage 3.. hope this helps.

I have this Vampire and have been trying to sneak up on people and “feed” but it seems like everyone is on on some kind of strike against going to bed because I can’t find a single person sleeping. If they are, they wake up before I even see them and attack me! If ANYONE has an idea where some more “sleepy” meals are that would be GREAT!

This vampire sucks. Basically the best way to get rid of it is to get the embrace of shadows, take all clothes off, turn it on, sneak into a town, lockpick the door, drink the blood, all so you can just make it into the town you’re supposed to do the quest that clears you. THIS IS WEAK.

Kamickalo

On November 14, 2011 at 8:39 pm

Sup. Going to vamp out the next time I play, ty for the info. Just a observation from reading through if your having difficulty getting the disease, it may be your race has a resistance to disease. Also if you want to be cheap and save on health pots, couldn’t you just save before the encounter and then fight as normal. If you don’t get the disease either die or reload, which should load you before the fight and you can attempt it again. Looking forward to vamping. Happy hunting.

So I’m just wondering if I should become a vampire or if I should just stay human. I love sneaking around, I’m only level 23 but I’m the leader of the Thieves Guild already and my sneak is in the 70′s. I don’t know if I want to become a vampire because of the extra fire damage you take because I want to kill some dragons. Any advice? Vamping it up

On November 14, 2011 at 11:46 pm

Hi, I’ve chosen to play as a Vampire on one of my characters. I knew that becoming a vampire would mean certain things would be more difficult. For instance, the need to feed would make it difficult to do any sort of “farming” seeing as waiting too much would cause stage four to take affect and any one around would attack me. I also realize that if stage four were to take affect I would have to sneak into a town, camp, or the like, and drink someone’s blood. Here by causing my powers to reset and the hostility to dissipate. But I’ve decided that the routine blood feeding, and the lowered stats in sunlight would be worth the bonuses received from the vampirism.

Lastly, a tip to all whom do not wish to be a vampire. If you ever fight a vampire, check your disease status after (unless you see the update) and if infected, find a shrine before you sleep. The shrine should cure the disease (theory, but I’d bet money on it). Or simply make sure to save before a cave with vampires in it, so reloading the save won’t take you too far back.

All you retards that cant figure something as simple as selecting the pickpocket option to then get the feed option dont go blaming the directors because they didnt think people as stupid as u would be playing.Sell ur gaming console and find something that better suits ur mental capasity like throwing ur sh*t around like chimpanzees..

The Dizle

On November 15, 2011 at 7:33 am

As far as having problems sneaking up on people to feed, you have many options there. First off, and this goes without saying but, you should be sneaking. If you try to walk straight up to a sleeping person, they’ll almost always wake up. Make sure to take off your heavy armor to reduce noise while sneaking. Use the Muffle spell to reduce your noise as well. You have a built in Invisibility power, use it. You should probably also invest in some Invisibility potions and spells as well.

If you’re still having troubles, try to find people sleeping in unlocked areas, like the Hall of Dead in Whiterun, there’s a sleeping man in there and the door isn’t locked. Dragonsreach should be a good spot as well.

Like some people above have said, Vampirism is more suited for stealthy classes. If you want beast mode, go check out Werewolves.

ok so i was at my breaking point with this as well. but ive finally cured myself and now that i look back it was really actually intresting to figure it out. ill see if i can help.
so if you are a lvl 4 vamp and everyone is attacking you go to a building at night of a group you have joined they wont attack you even at lvl 4 i did this at the college in winterhold. then i went to see Falion who is in Marthol and he told me i need a black soul gem with a human soul (grand)trapped inside. when i told him i did not have one (black soul gem) he sold me one for 123 gold. You can buy the soul trap spell from Farengar Secret-Fire in dragonsreach. after you get the gem filled take it back to falion and he will tell you to meet him in the marsh to perform the ritual. he will show up at the location at about 2am.

Broken Fang Cave has a vampire or two, i turned and ran cause i didnt want to bother with being a vampire early in the game like i did in oblivion. that cure quest took forever to do.

Movarths Lair by Morthal, very close by in the swamp marsh, its a big cave entrance with dead around it. I became a vampire and I have to say its a challenge. Everytime i fast travel anywhere now a Dragon pops up at the town, be it a blood dragon, ice dragon or whatever. This tends to be a real if you are being attacked by everyone in town and its daytime and you are stage 4.

Also if you are in Morthal, Alva is a vampire (difficult to kill), and Norrins wife that ran off is a vampire (Layalette) that is just outside town at night behind the burned house about 45 yards. She also killed Helgie the small child in the burned house and put her in a coffin where she is at if you are doing the hide and go seek with helgie, that is where she is hiding. I’ve pissed off a lot of people in Morthal.

Being a vampire in any of the newer Elder Scrolls Games (Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim) have always been ty. It complicates the game badly. I’d suggest to anyone, play the game THEN be a vampire and go on a mass murdering rage, with a sided of blood and gore. :)

Being a VAMPIRE IS AWESOME, especially if your a Dark elf sneaky assassin =]. Yes the Sunlight issue and people wanting to kill you when you hit lvl 4 is very very bad, but you are a blood sucking creature of the night preying on innocents! people tend to want to kill you because of that, Of course that only happens when you hit lvl 4. Also for people that hit lvl 4 and cant find a way to feed because every time you get close to a town you get attacked by the guards you do get a move at rank 4 that turns you invisible for 3 mins which is well more than enough time to sneak into town and take your pick of long pig =]. + the benefits for being lvl 4 are well worth it when taking on hard dungies.

West of Whiterun follow the road for about 2 mins there is a cave called broken fang, be careful master vampire inside, kicked my ass about 5 time be fore he fell to my blade, also hes a dark elf so don’t use fire no bonus =[

You can also become a vampire in Morthal (what’s in a name) by doing a quest there. You’ll have to investigate a burnt-down house, and it will lead you to a vampire coven. I wasn’t even aware of having acquired the vampire disease. Now i am attacked on sight by every NPC in Skyrim, from bandits to kids, from the jarl to a bum on the streets. Kind of hard getting someone for a sleepover looking like a crystal meth junkie.

Theres a bug for PC users that removes the feed options when crouched it acts as tho the NPC as awake instead of clearly sleeping in their beds and thus the game only gives the pick pocket option PC users will ahve to wait for a patch. So quit being a lil b***h and puttin down others and have a good day

Chris

On November 16, 2011 at 8:04 pm

Crouch then pickpocket, a command comes up asking to feed or pickpocket, the person your feeding from has to be sleeping so just sneak into someones house (be sure to stay crouched) and feed. One cue is toGo to morthal(after youve fed) and and look for falion. Ask the innkeeper if shes heard any rumors if you cant locate him. Falion will tepl you to get filled a black soul gem and to meet him a dawn. When you meet him be sure you have fed.or he’ll attack you. Hell say sum words the screen gies dim then your cured. Ps towns people wont attack you if youve fed. They attack at stage four of vampirism, you revert back to stage one after feeding. Took me like an hour to figure it out

On November 16, 2011 at 9:28 pm

I was a werewolf from the companion quest line
somehow I became a vampire
by the time I got the quest to get rid of vampirsim and got to Falion I had become a stage 4
there is no option to feed
clicking pick pocket brings up the contents of the pocket not an option to feed
its bugged as heck

The High Vampire is part of a quest that you can activate in Morthal. Speak with the towns folk, and then investigate the burned house. This will lead you on a mission to kill the High Vampire Movarth in his lair just NE of Morthal. The cave is full of Vampires and thralls.

I understand how to feed the first time I tried it worked perfectly, however ever since that first time it wont work. Every time I try it auto opens the pickpocket menu screen without even giving me the option to feed. Now that I am into the 4th stage everyone that I try to feed on (and yes they are all sleeping) nothing opens not even the pickpocket menu screen, just a game message saying “[name of npc] has already caught you” when they are asleep and its the first time in that town no one has seen me and im wanted for nothing…Help???

I loved being a Vampire, I miss it, got cured last night by becoming a werewolf. Falion (the other way to cure vampirism) in Morthal, glitched out on me and didn’t cure me, and I can’t finish that mission. Doesn’t give me the option, that wasted a lot of time, so I gave up on the cure. Been happy ever since.

There is an endless supply of people to feed on, Inns, campsites, Whiterun: temple, Companions, or just breaking into peoples houses. I hated vampirism at first, but I miss all the advantages it gave me since I’ve had it cured. Vampirism is perfect for thieves with Sneak ability bonus, invisibility, Illusion bonus and night vision.

If you need to feed during the day, the temple in white run always has diseased people.

One draw back, fire breathing dragons pretty much kill you with fire weakness, especially if they attack during the day. Usually do all my trading and creations during the day, sleep until midnight, feed, and go out. Most missions are inside caves anyways.

I got the disease right away in the game. I got it right outside riverwood, that was my second location, haven’t even done a mission, checking out the graphics on the computer, then I was attacked. 99% of the game so far I was a vampire (100+ days in the stats)

*I just wish they had a vampirism group to join, like the companions with the werewolves, because other vampires still tried to kill me.
That is the only reason I got rid of it. They have groups for thieves, assassins, mages, warewolves etc none for vampires that I know of. Seems a little odd since it seems guaranteed you’ll get the disease at some point.

**Just one thing at first, I wasn’t good at feeding, if you get vampirism early with no skills like me, un-equip off your armor and weapons, then use the 180 sec of invisibility. You wont be detected.
With heavy or light armor and weapons equipped you’ll always be caught even with invisibility.

On November 17, 2011 at 2:14 pm

If you talk to the Jarl in Morthal, she will ask you to investigate a local house that was burned down. If you accept this quest you start to uncover a vampire coven outside of town that they ask you to destroy. There are more than 10 vampires throughout the side quest’s story so catching it should be no problem (I caught it from the first hit of the first vampire I fought).

PS: It’s called a curse for a reason. It is really annoying if you let it get to a stage 4 infection, and the vulnerability to fire means random dragon encounters are usually onesided.

in response to mack^ im not sure in this one, but in oblivion the cure was involved with the mages guild. also, look into joining the Dark brotherhood, there is a little vampire girl who may know something about a cure and she will most likely lead you in the right direction. if not, try to feed (which usually must be on someone who is sleeping and when you are hidden) and go to whichever city the arcane college thing is at (i forget which one but its wayyyyy northeast)because they would be the next most likely subjects to know of a cure, though thats all the help i can give. also I would suggest, if nothing else, buying a strategy guide..? derp XD

I haven’t gotten to become a vampire yet in skyrim, but like in oblivion, the best way to get to feed is probably to prey on your sleeping guild members. I know all humans become hostile, but I doubt in the dark brotherhood that would be the case, so join that guild and when you really need to feed, feed there. That simple. And Steven, you are incredibly retarded, I read your comment and was dying with laughter for literally 10 minutes. The new vampire mode in Skyrim sounds amazing. You are never continuously harmed by sunlight, you instead are just at an unfortunate disadvantage which makes perfect sense and only affects when you are in the sunlight, and you get lots of perks, just because you guys aren’t smart enough to use your heads doesn’t mean you should condemn the video game.

Ok, so is it possible to become a vampire as an argonian? i just spent about 10,000 on health potions and then stood in front of 3 vampires and about a dozen thralls until i ran out of potions without getting the “pre”disease. i know in oblivian they could but it was also a lot easier, just randomly fighting them you would get it, now…. nothing but a waste of gold

Calm down everybody. The most simple cure for vampirism, is to becoma a werewolf in the joining circle quest from the companions. Its the third quest or so that they want you to do. You can either accept their ”gift” or decline it. Or you can wait before you make the choice. I’ve let them wait for a while already. That does mean i can’t do any compansions quest in the meantime, but i can just let myself get contaminated with the vampire desease, have some fun with it and then decide to drink the werewolf blood with Skjor and Aela in the underforge. Being a werewolf is way better then being a vampire, but to get everything out of the game, you have to experience everything! Feed is possible the same way as pickpocketing. Just break into a house at night, sneak near the bed and drink blood!

How to get infected.

I spend over an hour in the broken fang cave trying to contract the disease. I must have let them hit me about 100 times all together. Casting ebony skin, wards, chugging potions, making Erik the slayer wait at the entrance(because he kills them) and NO luck. So I went to Morthal, talked to jarl, investigate the burned down house and found a female vampire (I think her name was Alvia). The very first attack she performed infected me and I blew her halfway across town with one fireball. Super easy.

Ollie

On November 22, 2011 at 5:13 am

I went through Morthal recently and if you talk to the Jarl she will tell you about a recent activity of a man named Hrothgar. Your job is to investigate and pass judgement on whether or not he burned down his house killing his wife and daughter who were sleeping inside.

SPOILER

It turns out that it was vampires and you end up having to hunt and kill the master vampire Movarth. I got turned in my first encounter.
Hope that helps

It'sCalledAGuide

On November 24, 2011 at 3:24 am

Okay, here’s the lowdown…

You can cure sanguine/whatever within 3 days by going to shrine of Talos or drinking cure potion before it turns into Vampirism.

If you get Vampirism, you can cure it by becoming a werewolf (doing the companion quests in whiterun) or doing that other cure Vampirism quest previously mentioned.

(Werewolf is so much better also, practically no negative side-effects.)

Warning: You can become a Vampire multiple times even after being cured, so be careful. Werewolf is a one time deal, if you cure it that’s the end of it.

Either way, you don’t ruin your savefile and it’s not the end of the damn world. So stop whining, cure yourself, or learn to deal with it.

It seems a lot of people don’t know how to play the game. Can’t blame them, because the disease isn’t some “I sparkle in the sunlight and get some needy chick to follow me around.” Well, maybe you do get the needy chick who can’t save her own skin. But like many people have already said and many others have neglected to read is… Especially with stage 4 vampires, just use the shadow ability, sneak into someone’s house AT NIGHT, and if they are in bed, just crouch over to em and feed will be your option.

Also, so happy to see the werewolves are back in Skyrim, Oblivion was lacking without em. Though not a fan of how the change is only for a few seconds instead of the whole night like Marrowind. Or at least optional chance back or something. Oh well, beggers can’t be chosers. Woot! Warriors = Werewolves. Mages = Vampires.

Vampirism is better in this game than Oblivion (no sun damage & you don’t look like your great grandpa)

How To Become A Vampire
When in combat against vampires, you have a chance of contracted vampirism every time they land a hit on you. If you contract the disease, it can be cured with any regular disease potion — unless you wait three days. After three days, the disease becomes permanent, and you gain the powers of a vampire.
If you know a location where vampires gather in Skyrim, please list it in the comments below.

Known Vampire Locations
• Vampires can be found in the Bloodlet Throne, up in the mountains from Falkreath.
• More vampires are found at Haemar’s Shame, along the southern pass around The Throat of the World. Follow the path east of Helgen and you’re on the right track.
• North Shriekwind Bastion
• the broken fang cave
• Bloodlet Throne, up in the mountains from Falkreath

The Four Stages of Vampirism
Vampires will succumb to their thirst for blood over a period of time. The longer you go without blood, the more powerful the benefits of vampirism will become, while the weaknesses will get worse.
You can only drink blood from sleeping NPCs. Interact with a sleeping NPC while sneaking to have the option to suck their blood.
Stage One
At stage one, vampires have a 25% increase to their illusion spells. They are 25% harder for NPCs to detect, have 100% resistance to diseases or poisons, and are 25% resistant to ice.
On the flipside, they’re 25% weaker to fire. Outside, in the sunlight, they also take a 15 point decrease to their health, magic, and stamina. Those three stats also do not regenerate.
Vampires at stage one have the power to reanimate the dead to serve them. They can also improve their night vision with another power.
Vampires also gain a spell that allows them to drain the health of their enemies.
As each stage increases, some effects stay the same, while the rest change. To be brief, we’ll only list the changes between stages.
Stage Two
At stage two, vampires at 50% more resistant to frost, while their vampiric servant and vampiric drain powers become more powerful.
They also become 50% weaker to fire, and have their health, stamine, and magic stats lowered by 30.
They gain another power; that of Vampiric Seduction. Enemies, either animals are people, can be calmed for 30 seconds. That means they won’t attack.
Stage Three
Vampires now have a 75% resistance to ice, while their powers of reanimating the dead and draining the living become more powerful.
Their weaknesses also grow, they are 75% more weak to fire, and their health, magic, and stamina are reduced by 45 points in the sunlight.
Stage Four
The last stage of vampirism. These vampires are 100% resistant to ice, while their draining and servant powers become even stronger.
They are also 100% weak to fire, with their health, stamina, and magic stats lowered by 60 points in the sunlight.
Stay out of the light and away from humans, because NPCs are all hostile to stage 4 vampires.
Luckily, stage 4 vampires gain another new power — Embrace of Shadows, which turns your character invisible for three minutes.
TIP: go to houses after 1pm
How to sneak:
1. Sneaking
2. Take off all your heavy armor (to avoid noice)
3. Use the Muffle spell, to reduce your noice
4. Build up Invisibility power
5. Also maybe buy an invinsibility potiens
If you need to feed during the day, the temple in white run always has diseased people.

Well… To feed, you must find someone who is sleeping… If you played oblivion it’s pretty damn obvious… The stages in Skyrim are sort of like the ones in oblivion as well… People buy skyrim because of the game, but know nothing of the story or intricacies behind it. It’s a small chance of contracting the disease when you are hit, very small. You may get lucky. To feed, you have to wait until it is nighttime or some other time that you can find a sleeping NPC, at stage four you can become invisible for three minutes so it’s pretty much a failsafe at hunting… Now, happy trails. :]

:] Btw, get some armor with Fire resistance. <3 I make spare sets of legendary daedric just in case I decide to go to different places, I have my main set, My tank set, my fire set, ice set, shock set, and a fun set.

If you get added Regen to any of your stats, then sunlight will not hinder you from healing in sunlight, simply stops the basic regen that your character has. Vampirism really isn't that bad if you cure it.
I am a level 39 almost level 40 with all the main quests and quite a significant amount of the side quests done. It's a pretty fun thing running around like a vampire, if you are scared of the fire damage, then feed. Temple in Whiterun has sick people to feed off of. Also, get married, that will give you someone to feed off of. Vampires = Sneak and Stealth. If you are not good at that, then you probably shouldn't be one. :] And, there is a cure, so stop friggen whining.

The palace mage in Solitude gives you a quest to wipe out a coven of vampires, although the quest location is dynamic, so it changes in every game.

There are also a couple vampires in the location for the Wolf Queen quest (from the steward in Solitude), I think in Potema’s Crypt. Not many though.

WOW, first time I played an Elder Scrolls game and didn’t expect this Vampirism thing. No fun at all and the worst part is there is nothing really telling you your condition except a flash in the upper left every now and then. There should be a display like in Guild Wars or Diablo that lets you build the characters armor and something added in that display telling you your status. This menu thing rather sucks. And I’m not too please with becoming a vampire. Also it would also be nice if I realized early on that giants can crush you in one hit. It has some good ideas but needs a lot of work.

Read and followed the explanation for getting rid of Vampirism. Didn’t have Soul Trap and found it in Dragonsreach. After getting a soul through about 5 different commands during combat, which is completely stupid, I went back to Falion only to find that everyone is hostile because I didn’t feed. And even in the night, using Sneak and Amber of Darkness, everyone wakes up well before I get a shot at them to feed so everyone stops hating me. 5 hours into getting rid of Vampirism is a fail at this point. Nothing is easy to execute in this game. Great game…LOL…

JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS!!!-> I havent
100% confirmed this, but in two of my
games ( I have two characters), I
couldnt find dragons in one until I completed
the Bleak Fall Barrows quest (the very
first mission where you fight your very
first dragon) and I couldnt contract
Sanguine Vampiris in the other until after
doing the same first mission. so im guessing
you have to do the first mission of the
game to open up the rest of the game.

For everyone who is having trouble feeding. Find someone who is sleeping and you will either see talk, if you are standing, or pickpocket, if you are in stealth. Press the button and a menu will pop up asking if you want to talk/pickpocket or feed. I recommend stealth if there are others around that may see you feeding as you’ll be attacked by the guard for it. Hope this helps everyone.

I became a vampire at lvl10 and finally cured it at level 16, I accidentally killed every NPC that can’t spawn in the cities when a stage 4 vamp, I didn’t kill the ravenwood trader though, you can go to the ravenwood traders balcony at night, and test your luck by entering the door of the balcony and he may be laying down or not, but of he is, sneak and feed on him to be a stage 1 vamp. The. Follow the chain to cure vampirism in morthal.

well you should not let it happen to you in the first place but i was in jail took the time and came out vampire but im not going to reach stage 4 i feed every night so im good but stage four 100% to ice damage so killing ice dragons should be no problem it might be good to get a few sole,s for the long run you can not crouch and feed so stand up when your in the door and there should be no problem its not very hard to live with at stage one just keep it up

Its because of the fools who posted here(most) that they “dumbed” down Skyrim leveling system compared to other TES series. OMFG read the other posts you idiots! Go play Call of Duty Modern Warfare you losers, The Elder Scrolls is out of your league.

For me being a werewolf became useless by level 20. I am just starting vampirism at level 51 on my second character. If it is anything like Oblivion being a vampire is awesome. I waited until I became familiar with many strategies because I remember how difficult some actions were in Oblivion as a high stage vampire. IMO the ability to choose your path infinitely makes Elder Scrolls the best RPG series ever. If everyone attacks you… kill them all and level up and get rich lol. Besides, it seems anyone can learn how to do anything with google now days.

Roy

On December 27, 2011 at 1:05 am

WOW you caught vampirism and went all the way to stage 4 without knowing?

A Feeding tip for stage 4 vampires so you can go back to questing…

For those that are at stage 4 vampirism (ugly, kill on sight monsters), the best way to feed and put a little color back into you is just find a farm house or mill on the outskirts to feed. At 2am most folks are asleep. You can only feed on sleeping people. Break in sneak up to them like you are going to pickpocket a sleeping person. You get the choice pickpocket or feed. Feed, you are now back to stage 1 vampirism and can pass for a normal person (no longer KOS).

There are a lot of diseases in this game. If you don’t want to catch vampirism keep a check on your “active effects”. Go to magic then active effects. The red ones are disease. A cure disease potion or preying at a shrine located at the holds will get rid of them. (vampires and werewolves need not worry about disease again)

If you already let the disease that cause vampirism run its course on you (takes a few days)and you want to get rid of vampirism you can. There are two ways to do this. Contracting Lycanthropy (Companions quest line)or visit a mage named Falion in Morthal (side quest: Rising at Dawn).

This information may already of been posted, but I got tired of reading people complain about being a vampire. It’s easy to live as a vampire if you know how. Stay fed to avoid stage 4 (feed before you head to town).

Prisoner

On December 28, 2011 at 3:10 am

Hey everybody! If you have trouble getting infected it might be because they are using a weapon, so try using a disarm spell or the disarm shout which will make them use their hands or spells to hit you. Hence making it easy for you to get infected. Also, note that vampire thralls are NOT vampires. Also a good place is movarth’s lair. If you can’t find it, then search around for a quest called laid to rest which is in marthal. If you can’t even find marthal then use the horse carriage guy who usually is found outside the cities. Haha and for those people who complain about vampirism then get the cure for it? Just become naked and use the embrace of shadows power and sneak in someone’s house and feed. Note that the feeding option Can only be seen after you select pickpocket. ENJOY!:)

Prisoner

On December 28, 2011 at 3:14 am

Also being a werewolf is only available if you join the circle of companions which is in whiterun. I tried being one already and I didn’t quite like it too but It is pretty strong too. Except that I died easily when attacked by 7 people cause I had no time to feed and could not use any potions.i think vampires are cooler but it’s up to you.

Punz

On December 28, 2011 at 11:26 am

First, please leave the Team Jacob crap out of Skyrim. The fact that you even call that homo a werewolf is an insult to the lycan myth. If I remember correctly, even the author of Twilight clarified that her wolves aren’t actual werewolves and just shapeshifters. And crappy shapeshifters at that.

Second, READ the posts people. Damn, near ever question everyone is asking has been answered already. The vampire condition isn’t for everyone. If you hate stealth and challenging gameplay, just make sure you cure yourself or load a previous save.

This
lists all Vampires in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Babette in the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary (not present if you decide to destroy the Dark Brotherhood)

Hern and Hert of Half-Moon Mill located a slight west of The Lady Stone. (Hern is an assassination target for the Dark Brotherhood)

Alva found in Morthal . She can be found sleeping in her cellar during the day and inside Movarth’s Lair. Involved in the quest Laid to Rest

Movarth in Movarth’s Lair northeast of Morthal . His pre-vampire life is detailed in the book Immortal Blood as the vampire hunter that was inquiring about the different vampires of Tamriel.

Broken Fang Cave has two low level vampires

Mara’s Eye Den located slightly east of Gallows Rock and west of
Kynesgrove. In order to get inside, you must swim underneath Mara’s Eye Pond and enter through a trap door. Jewelry can also be found inside. There is also a trap door on the small isle in the lake that leads below. There is a small boat, what appears to be a camp site and a few Mud Crabs around.

There is an apprentice vampire at the beginning and a master vampire at the end of Shriekwind Bastion, north of Falkreach and east of Falkreach Watchtower.

Sybille Stentor in the Blue Palace.

Haemar’s Shame During the quest A Daedra’s Best Friend an assortment of different leveled vampires and in addition a Master Vampire Near the end of the Cave.

Random encounters in the wilds may also produce vampires roaming at night and even a Vampire versus Werewolf encounter.

You can find shrines at different locations across Skyrim, some of which have no NPCs near them (like the one’s out in the wilderness)
I do not know if it cures being a vampire or not (I chose the path of a werewolf instead) but it sure keeps you from getting killed in Whiterun!

@ thatguyovertheir (VERY bad spelling, BTW): On PS3, hit circle then left to go into your magic menu before going down to and clicking on Active Effects. If you have a red title saying Reduced Health in red, go down to it and if you have Sanguinare Vampiris, it should say it in red on the left side of the screen.

There are two vampires and a black soul gem in Broken Fang Cave. You can contract it and have the means to cure it all from one place! The cave is in the middle of the wild, directly south west of Morthal. Its in the bottom of the triangle between Swindlers Den, Broken Tree Camp, and Gjukar’s Monument. I havent explored too much down there so there might be better monuments i havent discovered.

Ok, to all the arseholes telling people to stuff & that they’re retarded for not knowing how to feed at level 4 WHEN YOU CAN’T GET NEAR ANYONE, jng shut the up.

Vampirism in this sucks, if you don’t want to spend the whole game wandering around in the dark not doing any quests, avoid the vampires or get cured ASAP.

If you are bitten/infected, people in town will start telling you that you don’t look so good, each day that passes is a new stage & you’ll see you’re getting sunburned. You have 72 in game hours to get cured.

To get cured, go to Morthal, ask the innkeeper for rumours, they’ll direct you to Falion, this is the ‘Rising at Dawn’ quest. Buy a black soul gem from him & kill a human to catch their soul. If you don’t have a weapon that does this, see the wizard in Dragonsreach in Whiterun, he’ll sell you a book. Get the kill, make sure you have the gem on you & go back to Falion. He will meet you at dawn to cure you.

If you are a stage 4 vampire, you’re ed. Falion, for some ed up reason, will kill, NOT, cure you. You need to feed to get back to level 1. Problem is, everywhere you go, you’ll meet an angry mob. Invisiblity doesn’t work, they can still see you. Sneaking doesn’t work either. Being undressed/changing clothes doesn’t work. Nothing works. Even if people are asleep, they will wake up and attack you. Basically, the game is ruined.

Im a level 4 vampire and I’ve pulled my hair out trying to get cured. It’s not happening, so I’m gonna restart from an earlier point and lose 15 solid hours of gameplay. Thanks Bethesda!

Alright, you can find vampires Southeast of Falkreath in the Bloodlet Throne. OR there is a quest in Morthal and you have to kill some vampires and all that. The vampires in the black robes who cast a red spell ALWAYS seem to turn me into a vampire, so let them drain your life for a bit.
BUT I do need help. When a vampire hits you, and it says you have contracted some weird vampire thing, can you cure that at the shrines?
Or is it like.. Before 3 days, it will work. then after that, it won’t work?

On January 7, 2012 at 8:23 am

The best way to feed especially at stage four is to find a stormcloak camp so you can fast travel there at will. Whn you think your close to stage four then go there wait till 2 in the morning and turn invisible. It also helps if you have muffled an apprentice illusion spell which helps sneak. Then just creep to the closest tent and feed 3 or 4 times not just once. This takes you all the way back to stage one so ypi don’t have to come back as often..

h-boy vamped

On January 8, 2012 at 8:29 am

@tard and anyone who wants to get vamped.
.getting disease shouldnt be hard if u cant contract disease its probably because of your race im a nord so im not defensless against diseases it happened unexpectedly also dont activate any god monuments(or they may cure the uncoming disease)

if ur a dark elf ur u probably conot be affected by the vam disease!

ps,if ur not stealth player i dont suggest to become a vamp,as you will every 72 hours (actually less) have to feed every night if not prepare to be attacked on site anywere anytime(go for werewolf if ur not up for it.

theres a quest involving a black soul gem filled with a human soul inside of it. talk to the chick at the inn at marthal and start it im pretty sure, ask about some rumors and she will tell you theres a guy studying vampirism, and he’ll tell you how to get rid of the disease. regardless of the stage.or load your game…. everytime you fight a vampire always check your ‘active effects’

To get rid of the vampirism, join the companions. After joining and doing a few initial quests you come back and go into a secrete cave under the smith and can choose to become a werewolf, this will ‘over write’ the vampire in you and make you a werewolf. Continue through the companions quest to get the chance to revert back from werewolf to human.

On January 18, 2012 at 8:29 pm

I don’t know if someones already said this seeing as I skipped to the bottom half way down, but if you need to feed go pick-pocket a sleeping person. Once you press pickpocket you will be prompted to either continues pick-pocketing or rather feed instead.

Rokuema

On January 19, 2012 at 9:12 am

THEY GOT IT ALL BACKWARDS!!!! You should have to feed to STRENGTHEN your Vampirism Powers (unfortunatly enhancing the negatives too) and going without feeding SHOULD just keep you at stage 1…because Vampires that don’t feed should be WEAKER than Vampires that do. Game developers got Vampire logic backwards…

Rokuema

On January 19, 2012 at 9:18 am

P.S. – If you already became a Werewolf you are 100% resistant to diseases…soooo I’m pretty sure you can’t contract the vampire disease, although I have not tested this…but it is a disease…and being 100% resistant to diseases…means…well…you can’t get them.

Vampira

On January 19, 2012 at 10:47 am

You people are so f***ing stupid. Do you play the game at all, or do you just wander around aimlessly, swinging at flies?

If you have to feed, you press the analog stick down to sneak, once you are in sneak-mode, you press (A) on an NPC (even though it says PICKPOCKET, you can access ANOTHER MENU). On the left, it should say FEED, and on the right, PICKPOCKET. Obviously, you will pick feed.

It should also be known that feeding once will only take you back one level at a time, for instance, if you are level 4, and you feed once, you are still only level 3. If you wish to be undetected, or do a lot of in-town traveling, you have to feed as many times to return back to the desired level of the disease (a feature that was not present in any of the previous games, which I found to be really cool).

At any rate, Jesus H, some of you people are insanely stupid. You are the kind of people that spend 60 dollars on a strategy guide to figure out how to drink a damn bottle of mead. If you honestly don’t know how to do basic commands, read the instruction manual.

Vamps

On January 19, 2012 at 11:20 pm

If you use pickpocket and the feed option doesn’t come up it’s because your making too much noise and the person cant sleep. Take off all your armor reset everyone attacking you, cast embrace of the shadows, go in silently, sneak doesn’t even matter much and feed. Optional things to make it easier are to up your sneak skill and cast muffle, but I have been a vampire for a while now and there are only 2 drawbacks, you get roasted alive fighting dragons and your stats are less in the sunlight. But let’s be honest there’s not many creatures in the sunlight that are too hard to kill with 15 less stats. The worst that could happen is you fight a fire breathing dragon in the daytime… Lastly, I don’t count having to feed as a drawback. It’s fun! Just feed every 3 days and you’ll never hit stage four.

So close...

On January 20, 2012 at 4:51 pm

I became a werewolf thanks to the companions and now I can’t seem to catch the disease. I’ve let vampires just beat me nearly to death, and I think it’s because of the werewolf disease resistance. If someone could tell me if there’s any way to still become a vampire, please tell me.

I HAVE A SOLUTION YOU ALL YOUR FEEDING PROBLEMS

1. find some one that is sleeping (inn is your best bet any time after 10pm)
2. sneak towards them (take off your armour for an easier sneak)
3.While sneaking activate pickpocket option two option will then appear one of them is feeding other is pickpocket (for the smart people that dont know this is where you choose feed)
4 enjoy the game as a fed vamp.

This part of the game is making me rage. First of all I am at the end of the quest line where I need to talk to the guy to fix my disease, however I just turned back to a stage 4 (making him attack me) so I need to feed then GO WAIT to talk to him at dawn. I have ran out of lockpicks.. (being stage 4 I am unable to buy more.) So breaking into peoples houses is bust. Also, every Inn I go into there is no one sleeping and I get noticed. Even invisible and without any gear on. This has almost made me uninstall this broken PoS game a few times now. I would just like to be able to actually play the game. You know.. I play video games for fun. Not to do stressful work.

To all who are moaning about vampirism -
It is rubbish. I won’t lie to you, there are no bonuses. To feed – you have to sneak into someones house while they are asleep (any house at night) click on pickpocket, but the option to feed comes up after that. Feed 3 times (on the same person) and then you will be fine for about 3 days and you can carry on as normal.
IF YOU WANT TO CURE IT COMPLETELY -
- The easiest way is to ask a bartender or innkeeper for rumours and if you ask 2 / 3 times you will get one saying “Falion in Morthal is studying vampires”.
- Then go to the Mage in Whiterun (in Dragonsreach) and buy a Soul Trap Spell.
- Go to Morthal (fast travel or get a carriage from Whiterun stables) and find Falion.
- Buy a black soul gem off him, use the soul trap spell on a human, then kill the human.
- Return to Falion in Morthal and he will cure you!

If you have any questions about the game I’m happy to help email me at hallampotts@hotmail.com

As a side note to my above post – Becoming a werewolf cures being a vampire – but becoming a vampire doesn’t cure being a werewolf. You cannot be both at the same time.

The Answer

On March 14, 2012 at 9:02 pm

Alright you level 4 vampires, here’s the answer to all of your human interaction problems. You see, when you hit level 4 in vampirism, you get Vampire’s Seduction; which causes enemies to stop attacking for half a minute (30 seconds). While they are under this effect, you can freely talk to them as they are seduced, when the spell expires, they will continue to attack you. I’m a Thief Vampire with an Illusion ability of 90, so its fairly easy for me to make the guards and whatnot flee, become seduced, fury, etc. Use your stealth ability to the max! Especially if your a thief and have that 15x dagger attack when sneaking, you kill everything instantly. Be sure to use the Muffle Illusion spell as well to help you escape enemies hunting you, it makes whatever armor your wearing quite by muffling your footsteps.
Hope this helps people. Enjoy feeding you blood suckers.

The Answer

On March 14, 2012 at 9:29 pm

Ah, yes, I forgot to mention Calm and Fury only works on guards if you have Kindred Mage and other perks like that in Illusion Magic. The Court Wizard of Solitude will resist almost all of your Illusion magic spells, its best to keep away from her until she is sleeping.

To become a vampire is simple this is the most simple way for people who are haveing trouble to become one.
1.Go to morthal and listen to the people talking outside the jarls longhouse.(if been to morthal before they will not be there)
2.Go to the burt down house near the inn then ask a guard about it and go to the jarl and talk to helgis ghost at the house.
3.Find her at night,in between the inn and the bridge is a dirt path go there and kill the vampire, and talk to her husband.
4.Then pick lock alvas house kill alva and hrogar and read her journal.
5.Show her journal to the jarl and go to movarths lair dismiss the guys following you,so they do not interupt you getting hit by vampires.
6.Find movarth let him hit you a bit not to much and let him do a drain health spell on you then kill him and tell the jarl.
(if not in a couple of days you are not a vampire go back to movarth lair and he will be there again, some people say you must sleep for 3days for it to leed to vampirisim you do not have to)

Donovan, that is Hircines quest you speak of. And no, it will not cure vampirism. If you want to become a werewolf, do a few quests for the companions. Its only about 2-4 short quests into it. But the Hircines quest, depending on how you beat it, will give you different items. You can get Hircines ring (infinate changes into werewolf whenever you like, but only if you already are a werewolf) or the Saviors hide, an Item that has been around since the elder scrolls 3 morrowind. You can get both, if you play it right.

Christina

On March 26, 2012 at 8:32 am

On the other hand, if you want to simply just rid of vampirism, go to morthal and go to the local inn. There should be a dialogue option along the lines, or relative to, vampirism. Basically, they tell you to go to Falion in Morthal. Speak to him, and he says that he will cure your vampirism on one condition. You must bring to him a filled black soul gem. He will then bring you to his little circle-thingy in the woods and cure you. You can do this as many times as you want. ^-^ Happy Hunting~

HEY, if you’re stage four I found a great way to feed! I almost quit the game after I hit stage 4, but I have a fool-proof solution! Okei, so… go outside of Whiterun, to the farmer’s house. At night, when the people go to sleep, (be careful not to catch their attention beforehand) go into the house and use your stage 4 vampire skill that makes you invisible. They npcs will still attack you, but if you just wait a minute or two they will stop and go to sleep. VOILA~! Time to feed! I actually, did this in Morthal on the guy that starts the Cure of Vamprism Quest, but I figured this out cause I still couldnt talk to him in Stage 4, lol. GOOD LUCK!!

i know a few ways to the disease
1. there is a quest called waking before dawn or something like that
2. if your full blown vampire this does not apply to you but in the first three days drink cure disease potions
3. there are many shrines throughout skyrim that and some are for money apparently but most are free
4. also feeding is simple you choose to pickpocket a sleeping NPC and it will give you the option to feed
5. Feed then go do the companions quests and you will become a werewolf curing the disease
(6) for werewolves there is a way to cure that to i dont know how though

Can you toggle vampire mode? Does 100% weakness to fire mean one hit your out? Please answer these questions.

My character is a wood elf and won’t contract the disease (50% disease protection). Is there anything to do to help? Or will I have to keep getting hit by the vampires to contract it?

Answering BosemerLass

Well you have an even less chance of contracting vampirism. My reccomendation take off armour and put on clothing(More likely to get the desies)than just let the vampire drain your heath NOT hit you.

No you can’t toggle it and 100% weakness just means x2 damage.

Hey guys, I’m Resoulution…. (my name for entering stuff like this). If any of you guys have the new expansion pack, “Dawnguard” you will always come in contact with vampires… Not very challenging to kill, but they do use a spell that can potentially give you vampirism… Make sure you always have a cure disease potion with you if wanting to get rid of it… It takes 3 days for you to become a vampire once given the disease… If you don’t have a potion, go to Whiterun and run to the Shrine of Talos… That will cure your disease of vampirism… For more info on Skyrim in general, please comment on… Thanks! :D ;)

To un-vampirre yourself- first if youv been a vamp for less than 3 days than you just go to a shrine and cure yourself, but if its more than 3 days and youv moved on to the stages 1 2 and 3 than you go to Morthal and talk to Falion and he’ll tell you how to cure vampirism. Then he’ll tell you to get a Black Soul Gem. If you don’t have one, Falion will sell you one. Before being cured, you’ll need to fill the Black Soul Gem. Then once you fill it you give it to him then he’ll do some kinda weird ritual on you then YOUR CURED!! but the effects will still be there about 30 seconds after you wake up or watever. but if your a stage 4 vamp BEFORE you do all that make sure to feed off of someone ( your follower, bandits, basicly anyone who sleeps) because if you enter a town as a lvl 4 vamp EVERYONE WILL ATTACK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! iv learned from expirience
EMAIL ME IF U GOTZ SOME QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!

Movarth’s Lair has 3 vampires, one of them being a master vampire, allowing for a greater chance to become a vampire; More health = longer fight.
It can be found Northeast or Northwest of Morthal, or between Ustengrav and Morthal.
The toughest enemies here are the Master Vampire and the last Vampire Thrall you find in a small room with an alchemy lab, thief-types with good sneak will tear every enemy apart however (tons of dark place, also it’s also a bit easy on Adept when starting the game too)

I always find it hard to understand why people are always ranting and raving about vampirism in the elder scrolls.
The fact of the matter is that if you become a vampire, there are consequences to that decision. Vampires turn to dust in the sun, among a host of other vulnaribilities. If you do not like that idea, then do not become one! At the end of the day with all these complaints we are going to end up with Twilight vampires in the games as well, just because some pu$$y wants to run around in the sun and glitter instead of turn to dust.
Man up or girl out. There is no other option. I have been playing for many hours and have been a vampire for more than a 50 in-game days. I adapt and I excel. I do not start blaming the game for my inadequacies just because I want to wear vampirism like an outfit without dealing with the consequences.
If you do not want to become a vampire, make sure you carry a cure in case you become infected. It is as easy as that. If you do not like the negative effects, then leave it for the rest of us to enjoy. I love every second of being a vampire, including the challenges that comes with it.

Xanthye

On October 6, 2012 at 12:13 am

Another place where you can find vampires is in Mortharl, and you can do a quest that gives you 400 gold and you can become Thame, you will most likely become a vampire whilst fighting them, and there are quite a few vampires in Morvarth’s lair. The quest that you can do (only if you want, you don’t actually have to do the quest) is called Laid to Rest. Make sure you give credit to Xanthye for the location of the vampire lair in Mortharl.

P.s. If you don’t want to take on ALL the vampires, break into Alva’s house and slay her, also, there is sometimes a lady in black at the cemetery who is a vampire.

If you can’t figure out how to feed its simple. When you go up to a sleeping person it will say pickpocket if you select a little box with two options will pop up and you have to select feed. Just make sure there isn’t anybody around to catch you. As far a curing yourself there’s two options. One is to become a werewolf. The other is to find a Mage named Falion in Morthal and do his quest Rising at Dawn.

If you are worried about health regen and finding vampires, just do this:

1. press the ` button in-game (next to 1, below esc and above tab)

2. Type in ‘tgm’ (toggle god mode) it will enable invincibility.

3. Type in ‘help vampire 0′

4 Type in ‘player.placeatme ——- 1′ (where i put ——-, Type in the code next to the vampire name’

5. Battle the vampire, if you don’t contract the first disease (I forgot name) then just repeat or just enter the ` again and press the up button.

I hope this helped!

how to get rid of being a vampire make sure it is night or u will me attacked, speak with any Inn Keeper or Bartender about rumors. not necessary though They’ll tell you that a man named Falion in Morthal is studying vampires.
Find Morthal east of Fort Snowhawk. Once there, talk to Falion and he’ll discuss how to cure vampirism.
He’ll tell you to get a Black Soul Gem. If you don’t have one, Falion will sell you one. Before being cured, you’ll need to fill the Black Soul Gem.
To fill a Black Soul Gem, you’ll need to cast a Soul Trap spell on a human, then kill them. Any human will work, including bandits and enemies.
You’ll need to obtain a Soul Trap spell, sold by any magic vendor. If you’re really desperate, try the College of Winterhold, or explore Whiterun to find a shop. If you don’t have high magic skills, just purchase a Soul Trap scroll. NOTE: The Mage for the Jarl of Whiterun, the Jarl’s Court Mage, should have a Soul Trap spell.
With a filled Black Soul Gem, return to Falion and talk to him to complete the ritual. You’re now cured of vampirism

To feed you have to break into someone’s house while they are sleeping, sneak up to them and press A (or X) to pick pocket them, it will then bring up two choices to either feed or actually pick pocket them, each time you feed it reduces the stage you’re on by 1, until you get to the first stage again, then you’ll stay on the first stage until you go without feeding again.
