The beautiful people at Bethesda have finally answered our gaming prayers — they provided cheats for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. If you’re not the cheating type, you might still need some help with our text and video walkthrough. We won’t waste your time any further, scroll down to get the scoop on console commands.

Using Console Commands
Hit Tilde [`] to bring down the developer console. Then just enter the codes listed below to activate.
Some cheats can cause bugs, crashes, or problems with the game code. Make sure to save your game before you experiment with cheats. Achievements are also disabled once cheats are activated.
Don’t forget to shut off the AUTOSAVE feature if you’re worried about overwriting a previous clean save.
Console Commands
TGM
Toggles god mode. You won’t be hurt, and you can carry an infinite amount of items without becoming encumbered.
TIM
Toggles immortal mode.
TCL
Toggles no-clip mode. You’ll fly through objects, doors, and outside the game world.
TM
Toggles menus.
Unlock
Unlocks any locked door or chest. Click on the locked door and chest, then type the command into the console.
psb
All spells obtained.
player.advlevel
Automatic level up.
caqs
Automatically completes all stages of your primary quest.
showracemenu
Pulls up the character customization menu, just like starting a new game. This will reset your level and skills.
player.modav
Permanently modifies an attribute or skills based on the amount listed under “.” All skills are listed under their in-game titles, with no spaces or quotes. NOTE: Archery is “Marksman” and Speech is “Speechcraft”.
Player.additem ITEM “###”
Gives items depending on what Item Code is input. Type in the item name under “ITEM” and the amount of items you want under “###”. Check our Item Codes page for a list of compatible Item Codes.
player.additem 0000000f “###”
Adds gold based on the number input under “###”, any number between “001″-”999″ will work.
player.additem 0000000a “###”
Adds lockpicks baed on the number input under “###”, any number between “001″-”100″ will work.
tmm (<0 or 1>)
Toggles map markers on or off.
tfc
Toggles fly-cam on or off.
tai
Toggles AI on or off.
tcai
Toggles combat AI on or off.
TC
Toggles control driven, allowing you to control NPCs.
tdetect
Toggles AI detection on or off — allowing unlimited stealing, killing, or general law-breaking.
player.setcrimegold ####
Set the number high and you’ll be wanted. Set the number to 0 to remove your criminal status completely.
player.setlevel
Sets character level to whatever number you want.
player.setav speedmult
Set movement speed; 100 is default, raise the number to increase your movement speed.
player.moveto “NPCID###”
Move to the indicated NPC.
movetoqt ####
Teleports you to your quest target.
showquesttargets
Shows the quest target IDs of your current quests, scroll with page up/down, use these IDs with the movetoqt command.
Kill
Kills a targeted enemy.
killall
Kills all enemies in your immediate vicinity.
help
Lists all console commands.
Resurrect
Resurrects your targetted dead.
player.setav carryweight ####
Set Carry Weight stat. Set to 1000 or 2500 and you’ll never have carry weight problems. (Thanks to Mark in the comments.)
setpcfame #
Set character’s fame.
setpcinfamy #
Set character’s infamy.
player.setav Fatigue #
Sets fatigue stat.
player.setav Health #
Sets health stat.
coc “placename”
Allows you to teleport to a location, replace “placename” with the name of the place you’d like to teleport to with no quotation marks. Example: coc whiterun
coc qasmoke
Teleports you to the developer testing hall, with every item in the game. Some items, like enchanted armor or weapons, may cause the game to crash.
sexchange
Changes your sex.
set timescale to ## (1-16)
Set the ratio in which time passes. 16 is default, while 1 is realtime.
modav “Stat” ###
Replace “stat” with health or stamina to change a targeted NPC’s health/stamina/magicka, with the number setting their statistic. Magicka currently unknown if it works.
setplayerrelationshiprank “actor” #Mofifies the targeted NPC’s disposition towards you, with 0 or 1 the lowest disposition, and 4 the highest.
kill
Kills the selected NPC.
openactorcontainer 1
Gives you access to the targeted NPC’s inventory.
resurrect
Revives the selected NPC.
removeallitems (player)Removes all items from the selected NPC, adding “Player” to this command removes all items from the selected NPC and adds them to the player’s inventory.
enableplayercontrols
Enables control for the player during cinematics.
setownership
Sets ownership of targeted thing, allowing the player to safely take items.
duplicateallitems
Duplicates all items of the targeted thing.
setpcfame ###
Set the targeted NPC’s fame.
setpcinfamy ###
Set the targeted NPC’s infamy.
player.showinventory
List all items and item codes in your inventory.
set decapitationchance to ##
Allows you to set your chances of decapitating enemies, from 0-100.
set killmoverandom to ##
Allows you to set your chances of setting off a Finishing Move, from 0-100.

Spawns crafting items, with the “itemID” codes listed below.

I’ve been able to use item codes to add potions and gold/lockpicks when I need them(not god mode or any others) and achievements still work for me.

@Matt, thats a good command, but let it be know on less powerful systems it can crash your game… ALOT. I don’t have a problem with it on my M17x, but my old laptop, (shit specs) Freezes for about 30 seconds between opening the chest. Best to run it in windowed mode for it.

I did the psb code. works too well i suppose… note, that some of the spells in the list, were not meant to be used. For my experience, all either worked, or didn’t. But the biggie was when i used the poly-morph into a skeever spell. The spell worked as intended, but i could not return to my original state. lol.. but, it was fun for 5 min to scamper around as a rodent… ALWAYS SAVE BEFORE TESTING…

Hey guys, if you are looking for anything specific in the game, like daedric stuff make sure to type in the console: help “daedric” 0
then use your page up and down to find the additem code of the items listed inside the console.
i.e. player.additem
There is a lot of things you can do right in the console without having to check these sites for help on cheats.
I think there is a help command that will show you all commands.
type in: help "console commands" 0
then type in: help
Then use page up to scroll up all of the commands used in the game. there are a lot of them! some of them work and some of them dont. (or maybe i just haven't figured out how to use them) hope this helps guys.

I am also on the COmpelling Tribute quest, and I’ve tried everything to get Markarth of my fucking ass. I’ve added tons and shitloads of gold, I’ve turned off ai, and turned it on again, I’ve relentlessly attempted to kill every single guard in Markarth, but to no fucking avail. The shitface that I am supposed to frame doesn’t even react to me, instead he tells me that he’s someones damn uncle. I am like “I DON’T F**ING CARE! *CHOP*” And the worst thing is.. He’s invincible… With that said, I thought of following Cam’s tip, but I am unsure of how to in that quest. WHat code is required?

Hey i just tried out some cheats like set level to 100, psb and stuff, but how do you undo cheats? is there any way? cos it kinda ruins the game cos the only way to then play it normally is to start a new char, and it would be rly bad if you had to do all of that again just to be able to start from where you cheated.

im having the same problem in that quest “compelling tribute” or whatever.
everytime i go into the building to steal the thing the faggot guards atack me cuz my bounty is probably over 9000. i tried leaving all my items at my house and letting them arrest me. the motherfuckers WONT arrest me. they say “you have commited crimes against markarth blah blah” and i choose “i submit take me to jail” but when i click that another dialogue option pops up with oen choice “whats the problem?” after that i the guard repeats what he said and i can choose “i sbumite take me to jail”. this process repeats its queer self OVER and OVER. if i kill all of them guards everywhere and inside the building all the regula rpeople including the guy i have to talk to after i steal something just atack me. he dosnt die. and now i can no longer open the box the item i need to steal is in. some guy above said “caqs” completes the entire game which i done want to do. can anyone help me out with the console command for this level?

caqs will complete every remaining quest in the game as far as i can tell. although, i’m not sure if this is what i want or not (goal was to get hjerim in windhelm and i do now) but not much to do in game now

Found a nice trainer that actually works! For those of you who were frustrated with the skill points thing, look no further. check out this link!
This isn’t one of those lame trainers you have to do a survey for and then get a virus. I tested this .exe with norton, and is virus free. Works only for retail unpatched Skyrim.
I only used it for the skill points cheats, there are lots of other cheats in it as well.

I had the exact same problem. I turned off the combat ai to get past the guards. I think I ended up saying to myself, “I’m 120 hrs into the game and have only done 10 of the main quest line. I still have Bard’s College, Stormcloaks, Dark Brotherhood, some Daedric quests, and a gazillion miscellaneous quests. Moving on.” and I did just that.
Console command to turn off ai is “tcai” without the quotes. Just turn it on again once you’re clear of the city guards. This game is so massive, I figure I can let this one go.
I also had a problem with my follower just standing stationary down in the vault area where like the 20 guards swarm you. Ended up having to part ways and get a new companion.

unless you saved and are able to reload to a point before cheating- your game is lost to bugs or the inability to gain achievements. Look up your autosaves to see if they go back far enough. If not, try playing to the point you cannot improve further (like around level 81 or a the end of all your main quests) and then cheat. Skyrim is amazing without the cheats (if it gets boring- most likely your difficulty level is too low- boost it up a few notches ;P boring becomes challenging… if not sometimes frustrating). Or you can always create a cheat save to get it out your system before returning to your old game.

The player.setcrimegold (#) doesn’t work it worked in Oblivion but it doesn’t work in Skyrim. You need to have some kind of area or town code for the area you have the bounty in because you can get up to 20 different bounty’s due to all the different counties being run separately.

These are all 50% resist potions:

However this one is just 25% resist:

TGM command works perfectly fine and you can still level up like normal. To make the emcumberance trick take effect, you need to re-load your save point. Happy gaming!

I cannot get the player.setav carryweight 2500 command to “stick”. I tried kittibear’s suggestion but it doesn’t work.
Also, I cannot seem to get the correct codes for some specialty type items to come up. I target the item (either in my inventory or on the floor if I drop it), click it, a code pops up, but when I type it in I get the “command unknown blahblah” error. So I click it again, I can get about 3 different codes to show up on the targeted item. None of them are correct or just not working. I can enter other items, leaving out the leading zero’s and get just what it is I’m trying to.
Can anyone give me a help with this? I’m loving Skyrim, already level 26. This game so rocks… it’s like Morrowind x’s 10!! I don’t do anything else at this point! LOL
Hope someone has a suggestion or help for me. Thanks in advance.

When adding gold you dont have to stop at 999, the first three zeros are not required.
I type player.additem 0000F “amount you desire” and it works, I typed in 1 million and it worked.

type “player.modav carryweight X” (without quotes)
This PERMANENTLY affects your carryweight, which is what you want.
X is a postive number to ADD to your current total OR
X is a negative number to SUBTRACT from your current total
Check how much you’re currently carrying, and check your limit, and then add an appropriate amount to cover what you’re carrying and how much more weight capacity you think you need.

If you want to get all the item type player.placeatme:
000c2ce0-special and normal weapons
000c2cd6-special and normal armor
000c2cdf-ench. weapons
000c2cd7-ench. armor
For carryweight:player.MODAV carryweight(and it will stay every time you load the game)
Want to spawn a desired NPC?

Guys..i need heeelp…i’m going crazy….a have been using the console for many days and sudenly one day it stoped showing me the codes….i type for example .. help armor 4 …. i hit enter and it shows to me only 50 armors…..it stops at an elven armor that doesn’t show the name only the code…….the day before the problem , the console was showing me all the armors in the game…all names and codes…. .Do you know what is wrong.?????

Is there a way to reset a quest? One of my NPC’s died when he shouldn’t have and I used the player.placeatme 1 and now I can’t continue with my quest because it’s f**ked it all up..

I’m skuck in Irkngthand and I can’t get past the spike gate. I trigger the gears and they are both moving but the gate just doesn’t open. If I toggle TCL will the NPC’s follow me through or will it leave them behind?
I don’t really want to cheat but I’ve tried this a few times now and the non-cheat method won’t work so its either go back and abandon the mission or cheat.

Danielle – yes you can. You need to find out the name of the quest and type “resetquest {questname}”
For example the Golden Claw is MS13 – so “resetquest MS13″ should do it. You should be able to find out the quest reference on here if you search for the quest: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:The_Golden_Claw
The tend to put the console codes at the bottom of each quest page on that site.

Hi there,
i am new to elder scroll games and therefore am new to skyrim :S
i am stuck on some commands, can anyone help please?
well in riften i cannot finish a quest with sapphire and i saw on some other websites to use the command “setrelationshiprank” but i do not know the correct stages and how to do it, can someone help please?
also i was wondering how do i wipe commands that i have entered incorrectly? and if i reload does the commands still stay?

About player.modav.. If I tired it to levelmy pick pocketing to 100, will I also level up? Or just my skill.. I don’t want to level up I jus want to have 100 pickpocketing to get the perfect touch perk

Also my game doesn’t have any sound at all..only at bethesda thing,downloaded directx June 2010 and it worked the next day it had no sound again .. Thing it was because I started using the console??

Some of these are incorrect or do not give appropriate warning. For instance, “tim” will allow God Mode but still allows decapitation. So your character would be running around without a head. Also “caqs” will complete ALL quests in the game.

when you level up a skill you’re player lvl doesn’t lvl with it.

To increase skill points
player.advskill smithing 50
The above will add 50 points (not levels) to smithing. At level 99 you need about 10 points to level to 100. At lower levels you need less points to level. This will level you and give you skill points. You can then set your player level back to what it was using player.setlevel ##. Enjoy.
BTW Archery is called “marksman” so to level that
player.advskill marksman 1000

DO THIS EVERYONE:
Find Alduin (Anywhere will do),
open the console commands,
click him,
type “tc” (no inverted commas)
HAVE FUN
Tip: get ureself somewhere safe before doing this, Alduin might attack when you dont ask him to and kill you before you can tc your “old” body.

please note, if your weight is exceeding the carry weight, turn on god mode (tgm) and sprint. then go back to normal. you should be able to travel at normal speed!

I don’t understand how everybody uses cheats and still find Skyrim challenging. If I start relying on small things like add an extra 1000 gold (or whatever) the game loses, in proportion, that much extra challenge. It boils down to “control”…..if I have control over the outcome of a battle for example, then who am I really defeating ? I might be just BS’ing myself though…..I always save my game before a battle so that until the confrontation is over, and to my satisfaction, only then will I continue. Still….the game is more fun to me doing that rather than wholesale cheating.

@everyone having trouble with followers not following you or getting stuck somewhere and don’t want to use cheats: exit the cave/dungeon/building, and then fast travel. If your follower is still not at your side, fast travel again, or use the wait option to wait a few hours. Your follower should always catch up to you. Also, I have seen followers clip (more like teleport) through obstacles (like a gate) if they cannot find a valid path to get to you.
Now for my question, I’m trying to find a console command to change an enchanted item’s name, I understand you can’t rename other items short of editing the skyrim.ini. Several times I have forgot name an item when enchanting it. I can find the item’s RefID by using the command showinventory, or by dropping it and then clicking on it while in the console. I would like do something like drop the item, pull up the console, click on the item and type setname in the console, or .setname . Please help. You can rename NPCs by clicking on them from the console and typing setnpcfullname , is there something similar for items?

caqs is an awesome command but im stuck in a Stormcloak camp, its white and blue, its says ‘press ctrl to crouch’, and i cant move. if anyone knows why, do you mind telling us that?
