Skyrim Workshop Confirms 10,000th Mod

Good lord people, you really, really love Skyrim. I can tell because you keep modding the hell out of it. The Skyrim Workshop on Steam is absolutely bumping with activity and on September 7th, it was confirmed that the 10,000th mod had been uploaded. Created by Joe Powell (AKA joedamarsio) Shannara Weapon Set mod is based on weapons from the Shannara Books by Terry Brooks.

To celebrate, the Syrim Workship posted and interview with Powell to the official blog. Some highlights:

Can you tell us a little bit about your mod, Shannara Weapon Set and your experience making it?
Well, the mod is based on some of the weapons found in the Shannara Books series, I have been following the Creation kit wiki to help me, this is my first ever mod after all, and found it very helpful. I’ve had a bit of trouble placing the chest.

Was there anything surprising about learning to use the Creation Kit?
I was surprised at how, for the most part, the Wiki was very easy to understand and I could find the things I was looking for with minimal hassle

Any advice you would offer to anyone playing Skyrim who maybe thinks about trying to make a mod but is intimidated?
It’s overwhelming when you first look at all the options on the Creation Kit but if you follow the Wiki it will talk you through everything and make modding a pleasurable and fun experience

There’s plenty more worth reading in the full interview. Meanwhile, have any of you tried it out? Have you created Skyrim mods of your own? Let us know and I’ll make sure we get the word out.

Ooooh, Shannara weapons? I wonder if he added some new shouts to match the spells based on the song spells in those books.

They really oughtt to look the Skyrim Nexus, almost double that amount already. But Steam has made good efforts on allowing a broader audience to feed the modding community so we can get more mods, so it’s all gravy…
