Sledgehammer Says the Call of Duty Engine is a Porsche

One of the ways people like to talk s–t about Call of Duty these days is to take shots at the game engine, saying it’s old and doesn’t look great anymore and the games are just expansions instead of true updates. If you’re one of the people who says one or all of those things, then Glen Schofield from Sledgehammer has something he wants to tell you (via CVG):

Well, I’ll tell you one thing, I’ve worked on a lot of engines over my lifetime and spent a lot of time putting graphics in to them and this thing is Porsche. And what I mean by that is that it is stream-lined, everything in it is perfectly freaking clean. You can tell it’s been worked on for years. It’s easy to upgrade.

If you put Modern Warfare 2 next to Modern Warfare 3 you would see a huge difference. Look at all the character models, look at all the gun models, look at the reflections, look at the water. There is so much that we’ve added, so when someone says ‘cut and paste,’ I don’t even want to talk to them because they don’t know. They just don’t know. They have no idea.

You hear that? You don’t have a damn clue, man. You don’t know nothin’. Hahahahahahahahahahaha.

I’ve corrected his statement…

“If you put Modern Warfare 3 next to Battlefield 3 you would see a huge difference. Look at all the character models, look at all the gun models, look at the reflections, look at the water. There is so much that we’ve fallen behind on, so when someone says ‘cut and paste,’ I don’t even want to talk to them because they know. They just know. They have no idea how far behind we are.”

@ Russell

No I’m not apart of the gaming industry but after playing MW games for awhile now they don’t ever seem to evolve or change for the better, always the same crap. I did read something about them trying to be more squad oriented instead of only supporting the Rambo style game play but who knows, most of the people that enjoy mw games exclusively tend to avoid that type of game play and only desire that repetitive solo die spawn feel.

several small maps, with small tweaks to the UI and that’s usually it.

STALKER is on the ball with that, but he’s just saying what we’re all thinking.

Glen Douchefield can tell us how great the GFX are compared to the last COD game all he wants. And the HD Code Veronica looks better than the original. Doesn’t mean that it doesn’t look like .

Hey, my last was a bit bland and dull, but the I’m about to take is glossy and reflects light in the toilet bowl.

Whatever Glen. We “just don’t know” so you won’t address those points? Open your eyes.

sure the graphics are a little better then mw2, but the engine is still the same. no destruction, no ballistics (actual bullets), it has nothing modern games have. i dont even like battle field that much but atleast when it makes a sequal, its actually a new game, not just a reworked one..
