Sleeping Dogs Has Six Months of DLC, Starting Launch Week

Sleeping Dogs hits stores tomorrow in the U.S., but don’t worry — Square Enix has a plan to sell you additional content for the game for the next six months. You know, in case you had nothing else to do with that money.

“We want to create something to suit everyone’s play style from cool cars and high-speed missions to outlandish outfits and game-extending mission packs,” said Square Enix London Studios General Manager Lee Singleton, according to a story from (and I suspect a press release received by) CVG. “The game launch is just the beginning.”

The first DLC pack is “the 80s-inspired Retro Triad Pack, a killer old school outfit with its own player buffs and funky kung-fu van,” according to Square Enix. It’ll be out later this week. Another pack is planned for September.

This is unacceptable. Developers release dlc for profit after the launch of the game, essentially milking the consumer’s money. It is almost as if games are sold 70% complete, and you have to pay extra for the rest of the game. Should be like the unreal tournament series, where maps, mutators and gamemodes are added after launch, at no extended price.

Don’t buy it then, the reason why there is DLC is because suckers like you keep buying it.
