SMITE Enters Open Beta, Sponsors Tournaments

It’s time for SMITE to enter that awkward period when a game goes from a boy to a teenager. Open Beta for the third-person MOBA has started today, and with it comes a fair number of patch notes and improvements. Notable changes include a visual upgrade to the Conquest map, a new bot to play against in Vs AI, spectator mode for tournament admins and shoutcasters, a team manager that is accessible in-game, a referral program, and a ranked mode that uses draft mode (heroes can only be picked once). It’s a feature-laden update, and while it doesn’t bring any new heroes into the mix, it brings SMITE up to par with other MOBAs while allowing players to finally jump in.

Alongside the new patch and Open Beta also comes news that SMITE will be hosting a launch tournament with a grand prize of $100,000. That’s all the detail that has been given to us, so keep tuned in the following weeks for more.
