SOE Partners with MLG to Introduce PlanetSide 2 eSports

PlanetSide 2 is hitting the eSports scene. SOE and Major League Gaming, the world’s largest eSports league, has agreed to a year-long collaboration to bring the MMOFPS to the scene, and over the next few months, will work closely to develop ideal competitive gameplay features and settings, as well as create original programming to air on the MLG network. Details and a complete broadcast schedule will be released in the coming weeks.

PlanetSide 2 players around the globe will soon after be able to compete via MLG’s GameBattles online competition site. Additionally, PlanetSide 2 gaming stations will be featured at MLG’s first Pro Circuit event of 2013 — the Winter Championship in Dallas, Texas, from March 15-17.

I look forward to seeing how PS2 is incorporated into the eSports scene — at first blush, the game doesn’t seen conducive to being a good viewing sport, but we’ll have to see what SOE comes up with.
