SOE Pres Admits Similarity Between H1Z1 And DayZ
Over on the self touted internet forum, Reddit, SOE President John Smedley didn’t hold back when answering questions about H1Z1, including any similarity it shares with DayZ.
“How is this different from Day Z? – saw this a lot. Not going to give some politically correct dodgy b.s. answer. It is a survival in a Zombie Apocalypse game. So is Day Z. They have made a brilliant game (first I might add). They have a great vision for it and can count myself and most of the people on our team as fans and contributors,” wrote Smedley. While this isn’t a “dodgy b.s. answer”, it is a bit PR centric and doesn’t really explain the differences, only that both games share the same game type.
Smedley went on to explain the additional features that H1Z1 has over DayZ such as the ability to build structures, forts, towns and relies heavily on crafting.
“So sure. We’re another Zombie Apocalypse game. Call it what it is. But our goal is to make ours fun, accessible, hard core and super, super deep,” Smedley stated. “As time goes on we hope our take on the end of the world by zombie is fun and lots of people get to try it.”
While Smedley admits that H1Z1 is similar to DayZ, he does so by stressing both are zombie apocalypse games and, of course, hinting that his will be much more fun. As a fan of this genre, it will be interesting to see how this game pans out.
If you’re interested in H1Z1, Early Access will begin soon and cost $19.99 ($20, why can’t they ever say a full number?), will allow streaming and will be free to play when it’s officially released.
