Solo $150 Kinect Launching in October

Microsoft will be releasing the Xbox One’s Kinect as a standalone peripheral October 7th.

This news came to light yesterday in an announcement from Microsoft confirming the Kinect’s release date. The company also revealed that the motion sensor sold solo would cost $150.

The Kinect, of course, was originally released as a required peripheral for the Xbox One. Microsoft even went so far as to claim that the it was “essential and integrated” part of the console that the company wouldn’t be separating. It softened and then eventually changed its stance however, when the significantly less expensive PS4. Microsoft, in turn, announced a Kinect-less Xbox One in May 2014, which released a month later in June.
