Some PSP Games Being Remastered for PS3 Release

Well this is certainly interesting.

Sony has announced that, in Japan only for the time being, they’ll be re-releasing some PSP games on PS3. These games — which will be part of the “PSP Remaster” line of titles — will be, you guessed it, remastered and given the blu-ray treatment. And, on top of that, folks will be able to use their PSP saved games if they so choose, and vice versa, which means that Hideo Kojima’s dream is absolutely coming true here.

Now there’s no longer any reason to think there won’t be any number of titles like this for NGP; I imagine an NGP “digital copy,” like those included with many blu-ray movies, could come bundled with some version of certain PS3 titles — most likely special editions or the like. Wow, this is a big deal.

The first game to go PSP Remaster is Monster Hunter Portable 3, and that’s only in Japan, as I said, for now.

No word on how quickly this line is going to start rolling out, but it’s gotta be soon. The PSP is reaching the end of its life span, after all
