Something Called LA Noire ‘Rockstar Pass’ Available on Xbox Live Next Week

In its list of Xbox Live goodies that’ll go on sale starting next week, Microsoft has listed something weird — a thing called the “Rockstar Pass” for L.A. Noire.

Whatever the Rockstar Pass is, it’ll run users 800 Microsoft Points ($10) and become available on Tuesday, May 17, when LA Noire hits shelves. Here’s what the news release says: “In celebration of launch on May 17, take your L.A. Noire experience to the next level and download the ‘L.A. Noire Rockstar Pass’ add-on.”

Seems like we’ll have to wait until Tuesday to really see what’s on offer with this thing, but Rockstar offers some really interesting community support for games such as Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto 4, called the Rockstar Games Social Club. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Rockstar Pass include some of the cool features that pop up in Social Club, like stat tracking and community challenges.

It’s also possible the Rockstar Pass could be something like Mass Effect 2′s Cerberus Network, piping in DLC and news to players along with other goodies. As always, you’ll know when we do.
