Sony: All Future PS3 Games Will Include an Online Pass

Hope you like inputting codes into the Playstation Network to prove to Sony that you’re not some dirty used game buyer and are instead paying full price at Wal-Mart like a good little corporate shill.

Destructoid has confirmed that all future Playstation 3 games are going to include an online pass. That includes Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and any game with an online multiplayer component. If you bought titles such as DiRT 3, you’ve already seen this in action: it’s a code you’ll have to enter to “unlock” the online portion of the game. If you’ve got a copy of the game without a code, except to shell out $10.

“Online Pass will be incorporated into Uncharted 3 and future Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS) games with online functionality,” Sony told Destructoid. “We will provide further information in the future.”

Hope you’re excited about this trend, because it’s not going away. Next you’ll only be getting half a game when you purchase it, and the other half will be yours when you send Sony a DNA sample for its records. You console fans better hope the PSN doesn’t go down again.

what stinks is that it will put Gamefly out of business. I like to use Gamefly as I can’t afford every single game that comes out that I want to play. At 60$ a game, I will have to roll back to like 2 games a year.
