Sony Ericsson Planning Android-Based Gaming Phone

According to a new report by Engadget, Sony Ericsson working hard on a new Android 3.0 phone that will feature, get this, a slide-out gamepad and shoulder buttons. They say, also, that the handset might just be ready for market in as little as two months from now, which is when Google is aiming to have Android 3.0 ready to go as well, so that is legitimately possible.

So what else do they say? That’s it’ll have something around a 4″ screen and a 1ghz Snapdragon processor, which is what the new HTC Evo runs. They say it will have Playstation branding which might mean this is what Sony wants to put out instead of a PSP2. That point is driven home when they say the phone will have PSP-quality graphics.

Hot damn. Check out the Engadget report for a more detailed description.

Man, everybody is making Smart Phones anymore. Nobody ever does non-Phone devices anymore.

Apple is pretty much not even bothering to update their iPod Touch, but they’re keeping the iPhone really new.

Microsoft is working on their Windows Phone 7 (and I’ll bet they replace Zune with it).

And now Sony is just going to replace their PSP with this Playstation Phone.

Maybe I have a phone that works fine and I don’t want several phones on several different networks just so I can use this stuff.
