Sony Giving Out Free PS Vita Dev Kits To Indies?

The folks behind the iOS title Great Little War Game are saying on the NeoGAF forums that they showed their game to Sony, and Sony liked it enough that they gave them the PS Vita dev kit. For free.

We showed them our game, they liked it loads and thought it a good fit for their machine, so they sent us four kits. Gratis. Just like that.

Furthermore, they‘ve apparently finished the port already and are just waiting for the Vita to launch.

I feel like this is good news, and it certainly sends a message to all the indie devs out there looking to get their games on more platforms. I mean, this could just be an isolated incident, but something tells me that it isn’t, and that this is just part of a pro-indie strategy on Sony’s part. They are, after all, positioning the Vita to compete with mobile platforms with the unit’s touchscreen and whatnot, so it would make sense that they’d want to entice mobile developers.
