Sony Hopes to Achieve LittleBigPlanet 2 World Records By Playing LittleBigPlanet 2

I’m becoming nauseous and developing quite a headache just thinking about what this post is about. My head is spinning, and I really don’t understand the point of this. Onward, Phil. Onward.

OK, so Sony is holding an event at SonyStyle in New York from January 17-19 in which some bros will try their hardest to break or achieve or earn or set (or something) some records by playing LittleBigPlanet 2 (trailer). OK, so the records they’re “going for” are:

Longest marathon playing LittleBigPlanet 2
Longest marathon playing a platform video game
Most video game genres played in one video game in 24 hours
Most user-generated video game levels played in 24 hours
Most user-generated video game levels played in a marathon

I guess somebody has to be the one to set the initial record for things, but goddamn this is goofy. Aside from the platform game marathon record, these are pure, very cute wankery. Meanwhile, LBP 2 seems to have already earned these records:

Most gaming genres in one video game
Most player-created levels in one video game

So, yeah, this event. It’s in a public place, which means you can go to it. Veronica from Qore and Playstation PR bro Jeff Rubenstein will be there, and they say it’ll be great fun, which PR events like this usually are. I suggest going late at night to avoid the crowds. More info in the Playstation blog post about this.

Holy crap this game is out next week.

Trying for a record, but stuck on a particular level? We’ve got a full walkthrough for the game right here!
