Sony: Playstation Network Will Be Fully Restored This Week

This just in from the Playstation Blog: Sony projects to have the Playstation Store, Qriocity and everything else associated with the massive hack and failure of the Playstation Network by the end of the week.

Previous speculation put the restoration of the Playstation Store on May 31, but Playstation Blog isn’t any more specific than “end of the week” about the actual restart. When the store does come back online, Sony will offer several free games to users as an apology. You can get the skinny on that in our post here, where a few users have complained about Sony’s offers. Judge them as ye may.

On the plus side, the multiplayer modes for games like DiRT 3 should finally be available to Playstation 3 players once the network comes back online. In the case of DiRT 3 and games like it, players needed to sign on with a code that came with the game to access the online features, which was impossible because of the network being down.

We’ll let you know when more details are available, or when the network actually does come up. Until then, better start deciding if you want Dead Nation, inFamous or Little Big Planet in your download queue.
