Sony Says Uncharted 3 Sold 3.8 Million Units on Day One

Amid all the talk about release numbers flying around for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 (not to mention the annoyingly confusing numbers released for Batman: Arkham City that don’t make clear whether they’re shipped or sold units), I forgot all about another huge-selling title being released last week: Uncharted 3.

Sony didn’t, though, because according to a press release issued by the publisher, Uncharted 3 moved 3.8 million units just on its first day of sales. Now, I haven’t seen the release myself, and after the Warner Bros. release that liberally exchanged the words “sold” and “shipped,” I won’t be burned again. Sony says Uncharted 3 is on-pace to being the best-selling game in the trilogy.

Here’s a substantiated fact, though: Uncharted 3 has been pulling down rave reviews, garnering a 90/100 from our own Ross Lincoln. So maybe almost 4 million Day One sales is something we can believe in. We’ll see.

UC3 is GOTY in my opinion. I was surprise how awesome it was. The graphics looks like next gen. The story, characters, script, pacing, environment etc Naughty Dog hits every aspect of gaming out of the park. The 3D is just awesome. Its probably one of the best along with Killzone3.

I finished it once and playing through it second time. Haven’t even tried the multiplayer yet. This is one title that’s going in my permanent collection and not trading it in.

Sony never says how many units have actually sold, it’s always the shipped number they use in press releases.
