Sony Warehouses Out of 60GB PS3s

ps3box1-1.jpgIf you’re in the market for a Playstation 3 that is guaranteed to play the majority of PSOne and PS2 games, you better go grab one soon. Sony is reporting that all their supplies of the 60GB model have been exhausted from their warehouses, meaning the only ones left are currently in the hands of retailers. They’re currently selling for $499, and after they’re gone, your only option will be the 80GB model for $599. Besides the difference in price, the newer model may not be quite as backward compatible as its predecessors, barring any software updates that may come in the future. Industry analysts have also been predicting a forthcoming price cut for the 80GB version as well, but Sony has been very tight-lipped about that possibility, so no one really knows when or even if it will happen. With a lot of great games slated for release exclusively on the system later this year, buying one now could be a smart move.
