Sorry Ladies, You Won’t See Master Chief’s Face In Halo 4

When Bungie left the Halo franchise the studio created behind, it was oft discussed that new series shepherd 343 Industries would do something to shake things up considerably. Among those ideas tossed out, apparently, anyway, is that they’d take the unprecedented step of actually revealing Master Chief’s face. Put such speculation to rest, people. Na ga happen.

“We’re not ready to show the Master Chief’s face,” 343′s Frank O’Connor told Eurogamer. This is in part to maintain continuity with Bungie, and in part because it isn’t really necessary. “The funny thing about the Chief is he’s actually really well described,” O’Connor continued. “If you went down into that line and found a nerd with a deep canon Halo t-shirt and said describe the Master Chief to this police sketch artist, that police sketch artist would then produce a perfectly accurate rendering of an older man, almost painfully pale, almost albino white, with pale blue eyes, reddish hair, close cropped to a skin head, and maybe the last remnants of freckles he had when he was a kid.”

So there you go. No Master Chief face.

Wait, does anybody care? I mean really, does anyone care about seeing Master Chief’s face?

Of course it won’t happen. At this point, it would be riskier to show it than not. Maintaining the status quo means that whatever ideas people have in their minds are still valid, and they remain content.

Then again, they could just pull a Bioware and show his face via a photoshopped picture instead of an actual in game model. You know, just to be super classy.
