Spacebase DF-9 Early Access Hits Steam

One of the more promising ideas to come out of Double Fine’s Amnesia Fortnight prototyping marathon in 2012 was space station sim Spacebase DF-9. We hadn’t heard of it since, so we assumed it was hit by an asteroid, fried by radiation, or otherwise launched out of Double Fine’s airlock. But look, off the starboard bow, Spacebase DF-9 has drifted into orbit with the alpha now available via Steam early access.

Paying to get into an alpha isn’t my bag, especially when it will cost you $25, but I’m a management sim fan and will definitely keep an eye on Spacebase DF-9. Get a good look at what the alpha offers in the trailer below:

Not bad for an alpha build, and according to Double Fine, the devs plan to keep adding to this one as long as the community supports it. Take a look at this mammoth list of Spacebase DF-9 additions Double Fine is working on to get an idea of just how ambitious this project is.
