Spec Ops: The Line Will be In Stores June 26
At long last, 2K’s Spec Ops: The Line isn’t just a theoretical way to cross the moral event horizon. Today the upcoming virtual bloodbath finally received its release date in a press release: June 26, for those of you keeping score.
Spec Ops: The Line is seems to be aiming for a bit of controversy. The ERSB rating contains such gems as “Injured characters emit blood splashes when hit,” noting that players will be able to keep inflicting damage on an opponent’s body even after killing them. There will also be “at close range” executions, weapons that “cause damage such as dismembered limbs or scattered body parts,” and copious swearing. Could it be 2012′s Bulletstorm? We hope so, kind of. Bulletstorm (released one year ago; we will remember the time!) was The Best, but it also didn’t fly off the shelves. As a result, it’s probably not getting a sequel. Which is to say, if Spec ops: The Line turns out to be awesome, we would actually like to see it sell well.
Incidentally, if you decide to Spec ops: The Line’s premium edition, you’ll get access to bonus multiplayer content. Which will give you an unfair advantage. Even 2K thinks so!
