Square Enix Signs Long-Term Unreal Engine Licensing Agreement

Epic Games has announced an agreement with Square Enix, granting Square Enix a group-wide license to develop multiple games with Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 and Unreal Engine 4 technology.

“Demons’ Score” for iOS and Android, developed by iNiS and published by Square Enix, was created with Unreal Engine 3.

Earlier this month, Epic Games senior producer Chris Wynn said that the company doesn’t feel beaten by other engines, and that the other engines are “trying to go in different directions just to try and compete with Unreal.” Given how many developers have been using the Unreal engine, it’s difficult to argue with Wynn.
