Square Lays Out 3rd Birthday Release Date, Voice Cast
March 29. That’s when you’ll get a chance to play The 3rd Birthday, Square Enix’s PSP-exclusive action-RPG starring the main character of its Parasite Eve series from back in the days of the Playstation.
Aya Brea, heroine of Parasite Eve, has apparently been born a third time(?) and is now the only hope of humanity against some monsters called the Twisted who are actually from the future but travel back in time(?), and to battle them she jumps into other people’s bodies like Agent Smith using a thing called the Overdrive System(?) that only she can use.
Skip the story — Square has also released the fact that it’s signing up some known voice talent for the game. So far, the only names released are Yvonne Strahovski of NBC’s “Chuck” as Aya, and Jensen Ackles of the CW’s “Supernatural” (you can make fun of me if you want, but that show’s phenomenal) and last year’s My Bloody Valentine 3D remake. Ackles also did voice work for Batman: Under the Red Hood, so I can vouch for the fact that he’s competent.
As for what the hell the game’s actually about, or what Strahovski and Ackles will be saying, or whether it will make a lick of sense to anyone who doesn’t live in Japan remains to be seen.
