STALKER Devs Admit They’re Probably Going To Close

Sad news for a beleaguered tech company. Last week, news broke that GCS Game World, makers of STALKER, was probably going to close. Apparently, the reason isn’t economics but due to undisclosed personal problems faced by company founder Sergei Grigorovich. The company tweeted a swift denial after the reports broke, but the tweet was swiftly deleted. Now, however, they’ve retweeted a confirmation that the worst may happen.

We will do our best to continue. However, at this moment, nothing is certain.

Yikes. As someone who has been laid off days before Christmas, my heart goes out to the employees of GCS Game World facing the possibility of a Magical Holiday Unemployment Line.

Hopefully a good company picks up the license. STALKER is the only FPS I have ever found to be truly eerie and unsettling.

I’m sorry to see this happen as Stalker is one of my favorite FPS RPG games of all time next to the elder scroll and fallout games.

We’ll miss you guys. I hope you all come back as a new company if you guys close down.
