Standalone DayZ Is Now On Steam Early Access

The standalone version of DayZ, the ArmA II mod-turned-worldwide zombie shooter phenomenon, is now available via Steam Early Access.

Anyone interested in playing the latest “spend three hours searching for your friends” simulator version of Bohemia Interactive’s post-zombie apocalypse sandbox extravaganza can shell out $30 to gain access to the alpha, and later the retail version’s release. But, as DayZ’s Steam page warns…

WARNING: THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME FUNCTIONING.

So if the bugs and glitches in the original DayZ bothered you — at all — you might want to holster that credit card number. I’m sure someone on the Game Front staff will be courageous enough to explore the game for your viewing pleasure.

Check out the alpha trailer up top (note: it’s very graphic), and drop some thoughts in the comments below!
